We require Artisans that will be responsible for maintenance and repairs on eathmoving equipment and mobile asphalt/quarry plants.
these positions are available in Uganda and Tanzania and the project is roughly a duration of 3 years.
mobilization of family members for the contract duration is also optional.

Asphallt/Quarry plant maintenance experience (compulsory)
min of 5 years maintenance experience
Trade Tests Essential (Not negotiable

Background / General description
The World Bank’s Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit (PREM –AFTP2) is seeking a high caliber locally-recruited Extended Term Consultant (ETC) as Economist for the Uganda program to be based in Kampala. The World Bank is engaged in 23 active projects with commitments of over $1 billion; IDA provides on average approximately $300 million per year to Uganda, about half of which is in the form of budget support through the Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC) instrument, with contributions from multiple donors. Partnership with government is strong, as is the harmonization agenda with development partners. The Bank also is actively engaged in analytic work in collaboration with the government on priorities under the government’s national development plan (NDP). The ETC /Economist will work closely with the Uganda PREM team, under the management of the Country Manager for Uganda and the AFTP2 Sector Manager. The ETC/Economist filling this position will be supervised on a day-to-day basis by the internationally-recruited Country Economist based in Kampala, Uganda.

Duties and Accountabilities
The ETC /Economist will (i) carry out responsibilities for a broad range of non-lending tasks with a focus on microeconomic and fiscal aspects; (ii) provide timely support to empirically-based policy making through analysis of issues in context of policy notes and participation in various policy fora; (iii) participate in support of policy based-lending operations including Poverty Reduction Support Credits; (iv) take primary responsibility for the analysis of the annual budget; (v) monitor the results and analyze the impact under the Uganda NDP; assist in management of the economic data base to this end, and support the country team on related institutional and country-specific activities; (vi) maintain close working relationships with government counterparts, IMF, the donor community, as well as with civil society in Uganda more broadly; and (vii) carry out the work program in a way that helps build capacity with government counterparts, where applicable.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate should be: (a) a holder of a post graduate degree in Economics, preferably PhD, with at least 5 years of direct relevant experience; (b) one who has demonstrated effectiveness in applying economic discipline to Uganda context; and (c) has technical skills to include sound knowledge of STATA and other microeconomic analytic tools. (d) has high level of personal and professional integrity. (e) strong ability to function well in a multi-cultural environment, and working in teams. About SIHA:

SIHA was founded in 1995 by a collection of women's groups with the view of strengthening the capacities of women organizations in the Horn of African countries.
SIHA is advocating for social change and gender equality for men and women in the Horn of Africa and working specifically on: gender equality, eliminating violence against women and girls, promoting human rights, peace building and conflict transformation, enhancing women’s leadership and political participation and production and dissemination of knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Project management experience.
* Marketing, business development or management consulting background.

Chief of Party - Development Food Aid Program

Kampala, Uganda - The Chief of Party is the senior management position for the proposed Samaritan’s Purse Development Food Aid Program (DFAP) in Uganda. This person will have oversight and managerial responsibility over all aspects of this multi-year and multi-agency program. S/he will be responsible for overall program implementation and staff development. The Chief of Party will provide direct oversight and leadership for the program. This position is contingent upon funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide overall strategy and vision for the DFAP while meeting program goals and objectives and recommending program priorities • Closely monitor program implementation and strategy • Coordinate and share information with the Country Director to ensure project targets and donor obligations are being met • Ensure all project funds are spent in accordance with donor rules and regulations. Work with the Country Director to forecast expenditure surpluses and deficits to enable adjustments to be made to the program in a timely fashion • Manage the recruitment and training of program staff and build capacity and teamwork • Support all efforts toward accountability to beneficiaries and to international standards guiding development work • Liaise with relevant community representatives, donors, and local government • Attend devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public • Frequent travel from Kampala to Karamoja, to Kenya (Nairobi and Mombasa), and to the US is required • Manage all national and international staff related to the program (number of staff to be determined) • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this multi-year program • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws • Interview, hire, and train employees • Plan, design, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in international development, economic development or other related field is required • Experience managing development programs in post-conflict/conflict and/or pastoralist areas required. • A minimum of 7-10 years of related relief and development experience • Prior experience in managing multi-year development programs and project management related to agriculture, water and sanitation, community mobilization, commodities and pipeline grants, or Food/Cash-for-Work is strongly desired • Extensive proven knowledge in program management, specifically previous Title II and DFAP experience • Desire to help lead people to knowledge of Jesus Christ that transforms desperate situations • Commitment to the Samaritan’s Purse statement of faith, and experience in working with cross-cultural and cross-denominational Christians
