About

Feed the Future Program:


Feed the Future, the U.S. Government’s

global hunger and food security initiative, is establishing a foundation for

lasting progress against global hunger. The Feed the Future Uganda Youth

Leadership for Agriculture is a 5 year Activity which will support Ugandan

partners, with youth in the lead, to identify and drive forward sustainable,

inclusive, and cost-effective approaches that put youth, especially female

youth, squarely in the agriculture sector as leaders, farmers, entrepreneurs,

and employees. The purpose of this flagship activity is to increase economic

opportunities for approximately 350,000 Ugandan female and male youth ages 10

to 35 in agriculture-related fields, in order to increase their incomes and

build their entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce readiness skills.


Job

Summary:
 The Private Sector Partnerships Manager will

be responsible for technical leadership and oversight of activities under

objective One: Increased incomes of youth working in agricultural value chains.

This will include organizing opportunities for increased incomes around value

chain development-driven job creation by starting with market demand and

working backwards to build the technical and entrepreneurial skills to meet

workforce demand. The Private Sector Partnerships Manager will work with the

private sector to pinpoint which skills are in demand in each district and

which sectors can support a productive youth labor pool. S/he will then examine

the human, social, financial, and physical capital-related constraints that

youth encounter entering the workforce and design interventions to overcome

these constraints. The overall purpose of this role is to provide technical direction

and assistance in the identification, design, and implementation of strategic

partnerships between private and public sector actors aimed at increasing

income and promoting employment of youth working in agricultural value chains

in their area of operation.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Build

and strengthen working partnerships that increase access and adoption of

technologies to improve agricultural productivity by youth. Coordinate with

private sector partners and their agents to finance and promote on-farm

technologies.


·        
Facilitate

actors to provide private sector market driven technical skills development

services. Review existing business development and training models that are age

and gender appropriate and can be incorporated into the Activity


·        
Develop,

harness and facilitate increased employment opportunities along the value

chain.


·        
Broker

and leverage productive relationships that result in increased access to

various financing mechanisms by youth


·        
The

Manager will design and promote “resource bundles” for youth farmers, where

youth are supported to access agro-inputs, training, financing, and market

linkages.


·        
Identify

and leverage partnerships that enable youth to access timely and appropriate

market information.


·        
Support

monitoring evaluation and learning to track performance, measure the attainment

of results and provide evidence that enhances collaboration, learning and

adapting of the key components of this activity.


·        
Perform

any tasks assigned from time to time.


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The

applicant must preferably hold a master’s degree in education, business or

other relevant field. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

with ten years’ experience may be substituted for a Master’s degree.


·        
At

least six years’ experience in private sector partnerships development.


·        
Excellent

track record of achieving results in private sector partnership activities.


·        
Demonstrated

high level technical, analytical and interpersonal skills.


·        
Strong

English written and oral communication skills.
