The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) is a statutory body established in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999 (Cap. 145 of the Laws of Uganda). The Act empowers ERA to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Sale, Export, Import and Distribution of electrical energy in Uganda.


Job Summary: The Consumer Affairs Assistant will support the Consumer Affairs Office in implementing sustainable consumer protection mechanisms through coordination of consumer complaints handling and the advocacy programs of the Authority. The incumbent will also coordinate the development, design, production and dissemination of ERA’s Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Receive, compile, record and file all consumer complaints in both hard and soft copies.
· Follow up on consumer complaints for resolution with Licensees.
· The incumbent will oversee the mini contact centre for complaints registration and provision of feedback to consumers.
· Direct requests and unresolved issues to the responsible Officers.
· Manage the production of ERA’s IEC materials.
· Disseminate the ERA publications and other IEC materials through various means and fora.
· Perform any other official duties as may be reasonably assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicants should hold Honour’s degrees in Mass Communication, Arts, Social Sciences or a related discipline from formally recognized institutions.
· Possession of a post graduate training in Journalism or Copy Editing is an added advantage.
· A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a busy organization.
· Result oriented with good communication skills.
· Excellent analytical skills.
· Good reading and writing skills.
· Age: Above 35 years

Following the

signing of the Lusaka Ceasefire Agreement in July 1999 between the Democratic

Republic of the Congo (DRC) and five regional States (Angola, Namibia, Rwanda,

Uganda and Zimbabwe) in July 1999, the Security Council established the United

Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) by

its resolution 1279 of 30 November 1999, initially to plan for the observation

of the ceasefire and disengagement of forces and maintain liaison with all

parties to the Ceasefire Agreement. Later in a series of resolutions, the

Council expanded the mandate of MONUC to the supervision of the implementation

of the Ceasefire Agreement and assigned multiple related additional tasks.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


·        
Carry out second-level desktop troubleshooting in

conjunction with the Mission Wide Service Desk.


·        
Support in routine installation, configuration,

testing and deployment of server hardware and software, including Local Area

Network, Operating Systems, Electronic mail, Unix, Linux, Lotus Notes, Citrix,

Database systems, Internet Web software, firewall, Domain Name Server (DNS),

DHCP, mail relay, and various security software.

Render support in monitoring personal computers

running UN software delivery system to ensure that software distributions are

being delivered correctly.

Service Installation and Support Receive and log

problem calls or service requests in the automated tracking system with minimum

delay;

Perform tasks related to scheduled service requests,

including equipment replacement, equipment installation/de-installation,

software installation, LAN connection, returns to stock, etc.

Provide basic training to end-users on the use of

standard systems; Log all actions in the automated tracking system, including

site survey information, steps taken to resolve problem or to complete task,

problems encountered, current status, etc.

Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the United Nations MONUSCO Information

Technology Technician should hold a High school or equivalent diploma.

Supplemental courses/technical certificate in information technology or

supplemental training on the changes in information technology is highly

desirable.


·        
At least five years of related relevant experience

in the information technology field. Working knowledge of the UN information

technology infrastructure and systems and of the UN organization is desirable.


·        
Possession of a valid national driver’s license is

required


·        
Language:  English is the working language of the United

Nations in Entebbe. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written

English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an added

advantage.

    Job Summary: The Legal Officer – Licensing will be responsible for the following:
    · Review and process licence and permit applications and documentation.
    · The incumbent will carry out due diligence of licence and permit applications to ascertain the validity of their legal documentation.
    · Draft license and permit documentation in line with the Authority’s licensing terms and conditions, guidelines, procedures and practices.

    dedicated Regulation Unit within the Directorate of Water Development, which

    has now been upgraded into a Department of Water Utility Regulation, to execute

    regulatory functions. The mandate of the Water Utility Regulation Department is

    to set standards for services provided to consumers, set requirements and

    targets in relation to asset management, technical inputs and operational

    performance, monitor operational performance and ensuring compliance with

    contractual obligations, monitor and enforce service standards and review

    Business Plans and proposed tariffs.



    Job Summary: The Economists

    will render support to the regulation function of the Department through data

    Supports the SSM and CD to ensure critical Peace Corps Regional Safety and Security Officer recommendations are implemented appropriately and deadlines are met. Works with the SSM to provide regular updates on implementation progress and/or challenges to the Country Director and the Peace Corps Regional Safety and Security Officer.
    2. Safety and Security Training:
    Supports in the development of training materials for safety and security related sessions during events such as Pre-Service Training (PST), In-Service Trainings (IST), Close of Service (COS) conferences and Warden Trainings.
    Co-facilitates training sessions with the SSM as directed by the SSM or the Country Director. May be required to facilitate training sessions in lieu of the SSM if he/she is unavailable.
    3. Assists with the support of Home-stays and Site Identification and Mapping:
    Assists as appropriate in the delivery of safety information to Ugandan home-stay families before the arrival of the American Volunteers.
    Supports with Volunteer housing inspections, approvals, secures and enters data on GPS coordinates, relevant databases and supports the SSM in mapping Volunteer sites and consolidation points.
    4. Incident Reporting and Response:
    Provides Volunteer support after crime incidents, such as police follow-up, preparation of reports, accompanying Volunteers to their sites etc
    As backup may manage the security and non-medical follow up for Volunteer incidents of sexual assault.
    For all incidents – Assists the SSM to ensure that reportable incidents are communicated to the Country Director in accordance with policies and procedures; assists the SSM in completing incident reports in the Consolidated Incident Reporting System (CIRS) per the Consolidated Incident Reporting Guidelines.
    Technically supports the SSM by entering information as needed in site history files
    5. Emergency Preparedness:
    Works in liaison with the SSM, assists the Country Director and senior staff at Post during an emergency situation.
    Assists the SSM in developing and revising policies, training and testing Volunteer and office emergency and security plans.
    6. Analysis, Reports and Other Communication:
    Supports the SSM in maintaining post-crime statistics and analyzing trends
    Prepares reports and resource materials for SSM
    Organizes safety and security resources and helps maintain legible and orderly system for collecting, compiling, filing and disseminating pertinent safety and security information.
    7. Represents the Safety and Security Program:
    Actively participates in staff meetings (both general staff meetings and senior staff meetings at the discretion of the CD), discussions and activities and makes recommendations for changes in program policy and procedures as they relate to Volunteer safety and security
    Has knowledge of Embassy security staff and local law enforcement resources in order to obtain updates and information on emergency/security issues at post. Represents the Post at regularly scheduled safety and security external meetings as needed.
    8. Acts as a Duty Officer: Performs the responsibilities of a duty officer when scheduled as part of the Post’s duty officer program rotation. Maintains and updates the duty officer binder as needed.
    9. Provides Back-up Coverage for the SSM: Stands in as the Acting SSM when the SSM is out of the office and unavailable (i.e. on annual leave, sick leave or official travel) or there is a vacancy in the SSM position
    10. Temporary Travel: The contactor is subject to worldwide availability and may be requested by the Peace Corps to be reassigned or transfered permanently to another Peace Corps Post/Headquarters or perform temporary duties (TDY) as required and to travel to other assignments within Peace Corps as assigned. Any such resassignment or transfer shall be subject to agreement of the Contractor. The Statement of Work as defined will remain the same; however the duties may be subject to change as determined by the Contacting Officer.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The United States Peace Corps Safety & Security Assistant (SSA) SSA must at a minimum possess the following skills and abilities to effectively carry out the duties of the position:
    Hold a secondary school diploma (or local equivalent); College degree preferred
    A minimum of three or more years’ experience working with Americans or other expatriate development organizations in Uganda
    Must be able to obtain security clearance with the US Embassy

    an international NGO that has been operational in Uganda since 1996. Build

    BAU currently works in 13 districts with its field programs coordinated through

    has secured funding from Big Lottery Fund UK to implement a three year project

    – Improving Learning and Attainment in Primary Education, Uganda (ILEAP) that

    aims at ensuring that boys and girls in P1 to P3 receive support for their

    learning, both in and out of school. This is to enable them acquire the

    fundamental skills they need in order to achieve a good level of educational

    attainment. Implemented in 40 primary schools within Ngora and Bukedea

    districts, the ILEAP project will work directly with three key target groups;

    children in early years of school, teachers of early years classes and parents

    of the children in early years.


    Job Summary: The Project

    Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the ILEAP Project. The incumbent

    will provide technical and operational oversight for the project implementation

    and will be expected to continually observe the day-to-day effectiveness of the

    project delivery, noting and reporting any areas where improvements are

    possible. The incumbent will also work in liaison with the Project Assistant in

    carrying out the agreed project activities, including Monitoring, Evaluation

    Job Summary: The Communications

    Officer will be responsible for providing editorial, creative and operational

    support across Save the Children’s work. He or she will play a key role in

    ensuring our communications are both influential and informative for the full

    range of our stakeholders. The Communications Officer may also be called upon

    to support programs in emergency responses.


    Qualifications, Skills and

    Experience: 


    ·        
    The ideal candidate should hold a good Bachelor’s

    Degree or higher in Mass communication or related field. Post Graduate training

    in any relevant field is an added advantage.


    ·        
    A minimum of two years’ experience in a position in

    an international development organization.


    ·        
    Past exposure and experience of working with local

    partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health,

    Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.


    ·        
    Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning

    abilities.


    ·        
    Ability to establish and maintain conducive

    collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.


    ·        
    Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills

    are a must.


    ·        
    Availability and willingness to work extra hours

    during times of humanitarian responses.


    ·        
    Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to

    work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds

    and cultures.


    ·        
    Ability to intervene with crisis management or

    troubleshooting as necessary.


    ·        
    Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

    including influencing, negotiation and coaching.


    ·        
    Excellent time management and planning capacity.

    Medical Coordinator – Kampala – Office of the Prime Minister - 2015



    About US:
    The Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime Minister has received funding from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) under the Burundi Emergency project.


    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    · Supports the development of project work plans, track project progress, and prepare reports on deliverables.
    · Technically supports the development of information, and communication materials.
    · Provides technical support at the community level to improve the delivery of services.
    · Strengthens the health management systems of refugee community to district level through improved data collection and reporting in liaison with other implementing partners.
    · Coordinate and responds with all Partners on how to comply with emergency medical needs of refugees.
    · The incumbent will ensure IPs compliance with the Government standards and procedures in health service delivery.
    · Coordinates and ensures the integration of health services into the district development plan.
    · Ensures that people with special medical needs are attended to in time.
    · Collects, maintains and submits regular reports to supervisor.
    · Compiles and disseminates Health Information management system reports.
    · Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
    · The Medical Coordinator must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from a recognized University.
    · Master’s in Public Health.
    · Hold a Postgraduate in Project Management.
    · A minimum of three years’ experience with a busy and reputable organization.
    · Ability to conduct frequent travels to rural settings and hard to reach areas.
    · Ability to work long hours.
