Organization: Bank of Uganda (BoU) Reports to: Assistant/Deputy Engineering Services Division The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda. It was opened on the 15th  August 1966. It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government Department.  Bank of Uganda conducts all its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price stability.Job Summary:  The BOU Head Mechanical & Electrical Services Section will be responsible for planning, monitoring and providing effective, timely and quality Electro- mechanical works and/ or services (installation, repair, operation, service and maintenance). Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Carry out routine and long term preventive maintenance on Electro-mechanical Plant and Equipment. Work closely with Head of Engineering Services on routine inspection of Plant and Equipment and provide advice on requested services while meeting safety codes, specifications and budgetary limitations. Monitor installations of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes, devise and outline maintenance procedures for electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment. Plan and coordinate activities of utility services providers and technical consultants. Plan, budget and co-ordinate the maintenance of Electro-mechanical Plant and Equipment. Compile and prepare status reports of all works performed and services rendered including budget performance. Identification, classification and analysis of risks within the different sections of the department and making weekly incident reports for submission to SRM. Making regular updates of the departmental risk profile and register. Generate action plan for the department arising from the risk register of the department and closes issues that may be raised by the Risk Management Committee. Creation of risk awareness among departmental Staff. Effective, efficient and successful operations of the electro-mechanical plant and equipment Timely maintenance and repairs of all Engineering Plant and Machinery. Status reports on all contractual works. Periodic status reports on the functions of all utility services. Section Plans, Budgets and Maintenance Schedule Weekly incident reports. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicant should possess a good first class or Upper Second Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University/Institution Possess postgraduate diploma in Maintenance Management of Plant and Equipment, electrical/electronic systems is an added advantage. The applicant must be a registered Engineer with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB). A minimum of eight or more years’ practical relevant experience in Electrical/Electronic and or Mechanical services and works. Excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to make quick decisions. Good team player in a diverse environment. Problem sensitivity and problem solving skills Work and Activity scheduling skills Good coordinating and monitoring skills Should be ready to work beyond normal call of duty. Mechanical Engineer - design - Uganda

FINTEC Recruit is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. Our client a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine markets worldwide.

Experience required in piping and pressure vessel design. Good working knowledge of Autocad/Autopipe, and Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with ASME VIII div 1 & 2 and design codes such as ASTM, BS and EN codes. Experience with pipe stress analysis, Autopipe and or Caesar II. Have a working Knowledge of process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs)

Responsibilities
Design of mechanical components associated with marine cargo plants and onshore facilities to code and classification requirements, principally for liquefied gas storage and handling. Ensuring safe and economical design is satisfied and striving for continuous improvement in the design aspects. Experience of Piping design including calculations, layout, piping supports, etc. Good problem solving skills. Production and checking of engineering documents such as:
Equipment data sheets
Calculations
Material Lists
Procedures Internal and Client

• Evaluating and approving of third party quotations and final design and Liaison with other departments as required

Qualifications & Experience

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (other relevant qualifications may be considered)
5 years experience in mechanical design or other relevant experience
Preferably minimum of 2 years piping and pressure vessel design.

Mechanical Field Supervisor


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

? To maintain operational requirements of all generators in the region.

? To carry out on-site liaison with regional generator maintenance contractors.

? To prepare maintenance order/job instructions for regional generator maintenance contractors.

? To carry out routine inspections of all the generators installed in the region and take corrective actions so as to ensure effective and timely maintenance is done and that the generators can last for recommended life time.

? Closely work with contractors to ensure minimal interruption of services offered by the Company due to generator failures.

? To constantly research, identify and implement processes as well as recommend tools required to enhance efficiencies of the regional generator maintenance operations.

? To monitor, measure, report and manage the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) KPIs with external generator suppliers/contractors to ensure value for money.

? To participate in the designing and revision of efficient & effective preventive maintenance routines and procedures within the generator maintenance function.

? To develop and maintain accurate records of all generators installed.

? Routinely review the installed generators and timely produce input to the swap-out plan for the generators that have outlived their usefulness.

? Compile and send through all the necessary operational and management reports for generator maintenance activities.

? To routinely check/review & verify all contractor invoices so that payments are made correctly against maintenance works executed.

OTHER:

? Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Supervise all generator maintenance contractor activities and any other assigned contractors/personnel.

ENVIRONMENT:

85% of activities performed in the field and 15% in the internal office environment working under normal office conditions.
Significant travel, both daily and overnight, may be required in support of the position?s responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.

Mechanical Engineer

Position: Mechanical Engineer
Reports to: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Reference No: EUL/ EM/2010- 2

Role definition:
To handle all necessary repairs, maintenance and modifications required for improvement on the two power stations

Key result areas:
1. Improve availability and life of the plant by adopting appropriate technological practices and measures
in accordance with Eskom Policy and Hydro Power Engineering Practices.

2. Keep record of deviations, monitoring and maintenance data on every aspect of plant in his/ her system, produce diagnostic performance trends to enable timely intervention.

3. Carry out quality control on all work done by other employees on plant and equipment.

4. Provide oversight and leadership in monitoring of system plant

5. Formulate repair procedures for Mechanical plant and equipment.

6. Participate in the implementation of Mechanical outage programme

7. Prepare and submit monthly maintenance report to Mechanical Plant manager for decision making

8. Align LOPP with outage scope of work and ensure adequacy and completeness of Work Packages for
all outages and recommend outage durations.

9. Perform quality control function on all work done by maintenance or contractor personnel.

10. Directly conduct system engineering and frequently write system reports as required by the Mechanical Plant Manager.

11. Ensure safety for both equipment and people working in the Mechanical department including issuing of Special Operating Instruction.

12. Lead the implementation of Mechanical engineering projects

13. Investigate incidents related to Mechanical plant and make reports/ recommendations on preventive or corrective measures.

14. Provide input (s) to the Mechanical action plan and budgets in accordance with the business plan and
company budget guidelines

The suitable candidates for this post should have:

i) Minimum Academic Requirement:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

ii) Relevant Experience

• Four years experience
