The Government of Uganda has

received credit from the World Bank towards implementation of the Competitive

and Enterprise Development Project (CEDP). The project development objective

(PDO) is to improve the competitiveness of enterprises in Uganda through

supporting reforms in priority productive and service sectors geared towards a

better investment climate with particular focus on MSMEs.


The five-year project comprises

of four major components and will be implemented by seven agencies. However,

the overall coordination of the Project will lie with the Private Sector

Foundation Uganda (PSFU) through a Project Coordination Unit (PCU). The Uganda

Registration Services Bureau (URSB) will implement Component 2 of CEDP:

Business Registration and Business licensing reforms that aims at reducing the

burden for businesses in dealing with registration and licenses procedure by

creating an online one-stop-shop for business registration and an e-registry

for business licensing, and by implementing measures aimed to simplifying and

streamlining business registration and business licensing procedures.


Job Summary: The Records Officer will be responsible for the effective and

appropriate management of the registry records from their creation through to

their eventual disposal. The Records Officer will be accountable for quality

and efficiency of records management on the day to day basis and supporting

fellow colleagues in accessing and using them.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the Security Registry and custody of

    all the files in the Registry.

  • Keep and maintain safe custody of the files in the

    registry.

  • Responsible for the recording in movement register of

    files and their tracking.

  • Retrieval and searches of files.

  • Supervise the Archives.

  • In charge of Quality Assurance of status of the

    registry and make reports.

  • Responsible for shelving and classification of files

    in the Registry

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the higher

    authority from time to time.
      


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Security registry effectively supervised.

  • Register all files kept and accounted for.

  • Movement register maintained.

  • Shelves well labeled.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should possess an Honors University

    Degree in Records and Achieve Management or Library and Information

    Science, Business Administration

  • At least four years’ experience in records management

    or librarianship.
