Job Summary:  The Management Information System/Database

Coordinator will be responsible for steering the development and managing

Management Information systems for the full spectrum (Development and

Humanitarian) Program of organization. The incumbent will be in charge of creating

databases, maps and systems of information collection, storage and

dissemination to relevant stakeholders. The goal of the effort is to build a

dynamic information management and sharing infrastructure that improves the

planning, coordination and traceability of SCI work in Uganda. In addition, the

person contributes to the design and regular use of GIS and database materials

used for programming. The Coordinator may also be called upon as and when

necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s

degree in  Computer Science, Information

Technology, GIS or relevant subject


·        
Prior experience in establishing successful

information and data management systems in complex contexts


·        
Significant experience of working on mapping, data

collection and presentation using mapping technologies such as Arc GIS, GPS,

google earth etc.


·        
Detailed working knowledge of applicable data

management and database computer software (JavaScript APIs, Flex, Microsoft

Excel/Access, SQL server)


·        
Proven experience of competently and effectively

synthesizing and managing large quantities of data.


·        
Expertise in analysis software’s such as SPSS,

STATA, databases, and other analysis software’s.


·        
Past exposure and experience of working with local

partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health,

Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.


·        
Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning

abilities.


·        
Ability to establish and maintain conducive

collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.


·        
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills

are a must.


·        
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach

areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.


·        
Availability and willingness to work extra hours

during times of humanitarian responses.


·        
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to

work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds

and cultures.


·        
Ability to intervene with crisis management or

troubleshooting as necessary.


·        
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

including influencing, negotiation and coaching.


·        
Excellent time management and planning capacity.


·        
Availability and willingness to work extra hours

during times of humanitarian responses.


·        
Proficiency in local language of the area, a must.


·        
Possess a valid riding permit and experience.
