Consulting Ltd is an HR consultancy company which seeks to recruit on behalf of

its valued client, a leading commercial bank operating in Uganda for over the

last 20 years providing a full range of prudential lending and investment

products.


Job Summary:  The Head of Risk will take the primary responsibility

for all matters concerned with Risk management in the bank including;

initiating risk management strategies, develop, and coordinate implementation,

monitoring and review of risk management policies, systems and programmes for

all divisions of the bank in accordance with the BOU prescribed guidelines, the

Bank’s policies and the relevant legislations and the corporate plan.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Establish an integrated risk management framework

for all aspects of risk across the Bank


·        
Develop risk management policies including the quantification

of management’s risk appetite through specific risk limits


·        
Steer efforts to set and implement a set of

strategic risk parameters and metrics, including losses and incidents, key risk

exposures and early warning indicators


·        
Assess the identified risks and measure the bank’s

exposures to them.


·        
Allocate economic capital to business activities

based on risk, and optimize the Bank’s risk portfolio through business

activities and risk-transfer strategies.


·        
In charge of monitoring and assessing decisions to

accept particular risks in line with the board approved risk strategies,

policies as well as risk tolerance.


·        
Improve the company’s risk management readiness

through communication and training programs, risk-based performance measurement

and incentives and other change management programs


·        
Develop the analytical, systems and data management

capabilities to support the risk management function


·        
Continuously drive the risk management process

towards global best practices


·        
Support management in developing and implementing

responses for each identified material risk


·        
Perform political, economic, social and

technological (PEST) analysis to identify emerging risks for detailed analysis

and subsequent development of high-level control interventions manage emerging

trends.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s

Degree (MBA, MSC, MA, ML).


·        
Possession of professional qualifications e.g. CFA,

ACCA, CISA) is desirable


·        
At least twelve years of cognate experience


·        
Detailed working knowledge of Credit Analysis


·        
Innate knowledge of treasury operations


·        
Broad market and product knowledge


·        
High level of IT proficiency especially Excel.


·        
Ability to think and act independently


·        
Ability to work under pressure


·        
High degree of integrity and sound judgement
