Natural Forests
The National
Forestry Authority (NFA) is a Government agency established under the National
Forestry and Tree Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible for
sustainable development and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) and
provision of technical support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.
Job Summary: The Boundary
and Surveys carries out tasks that include but not restricted to planning,
coordinating and implementing Boundary survey, re-survey and maintenance of
related data, maps and equipment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Responsible for planning for boundary resurvey and
maintenance based on cadastre data and Plans for each CFR.
·
Ensure that the integrity of CFR boundaries is
maintained through engagement with forest adjacent communities.
·
Manage boundary surveys both by NFA staff and those
contracted out to private surveyors
·
Responsible for updating Forest Reserve boundary
information system.
·
Quickly resolve boundary issues related to land
claims from other stakeholders in consultation with the Districts Land Boards
·
Prepare and submit reports on progress on boundary
work including detailed boundary data and maps.
·
Maintain survey equipment and physical and digital
records in good and secure condition.
·
Perform any other related duties as approved by
management.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The applicant should preferably hold an Honour’s
degree in Land surveying from a recognised University
·
At least three years’ experience in land surveying.
·
At least three years’ experience in Practical Survey
or Cartography work
·
Working knowledge of Land Law, Legal codes, court
procedures and government regulations, hands on skills in Cartography.
·
Prior experience in the use of advanced survey
equipment and ability to use GIS and GPS systems
·
Previous experience working in a natural resource
environment is an added advantage.
·
Capacity to work with minimum supervision in
difficult terrain and conditions.
·
Excellent communication and public relation skills
working with forest communities and other stakeholders.
·
High level of integrity, transparency and excellence
in executing responsibilities.
