Job Summary: The Occupational
Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for the ensuring that the
occupational Health and Safety management systems are developed, enhanced and
implemented in the organization according to health and safety
standards/regulations
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
The incumbent will oversee the functioning of the
occupational health and safety program, including administering the budget,
maintaining applicable documentation, establishing performance measures,
analyzing and reporting on occupational health and safety program results and
trends;
·
Responsible for all appeals dealing with OH&S
issues such as claims, compliance orders, penalties, assessments and similar
issues;
·
Guide management on the cost and effectiveness of
Occupational health & safety programs;
·
The incumbent will design programs to control,
eliminate, and prevent occupational health and safety disease or injury;
·
Conduct Company OH&S inspections;
·
Ensure adherence and compliance with company safety
standards and statutory requirements
·
Maintain housekeeping and safety standards;
·
The job holder will iIdentify, organize and
coordinate training sessions for management, supervisor and works on OH&S
practices and legislation;
·
Carry out OH&S audits as required by
regulations;
·
Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire
regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and
occupational diseases; and
·
Support plant external Contractor activities in line
with Group OH&S standard requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree
in physical sciences or related other qualifications.
·
Possession of a Post graduate diploma in
Occupational Health and Safety from a reputable institution is a must.
·
At least five years’ experience with three years in
the field of Occupational Health & Safety.
·
Detailed knowledge with the applicable laws,
regulations, guidelines & code of practices.
·
Demonstrated ability to strive to achieve high
quality results with persistently positive in the face of challenges and
setbacks.
·
Ability to work with minimal supervision and should
be self driven.
·
High degree of flexibility and ability to work at
any time, even beyond normal working hours when duty calls.
·
Ability to position self as leader and communicate
compelling vision to influence others to adopt company and team objectives.
·
Ability to motivate and empower others to attain
organizational goals and to take personal ownership and responsibility.
