Welcome to

the United States Embassy in Kampala, Uganda. 

The United States has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Uganda for over

30 years.  Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi

currently heads the U.S Mission to Uganda. 

The Mission is composed of several offices and organizations all working

under the auspices of the Embassy and at the direction of the Ambassador.


Among the

offices operating under the U.S Mission to Uganda are:

United States Agency for International Development

(USAID)


·        
Centers for Disease Control (CDC)


·        
Peace Corps


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


The Residence manager will be oversee the

coordination and supervision of household staff


·        
Oversees

maintenance of the residence, including cleaning and household organization,

both indoors and outdoors.


·        
Temporarily

fulfilling responsibilities of other staff members when needed.


·        
Takes

overall responsibility for the planning and execution, often on short notice, of

all the varied and numerous events held at the residence.


·        
Responsible

for menu planning, shopping and procurement for representational events and the

overall general operation of the residence.


·        
Responsible

for keeping records and logs of household assets, household purchases, duty

rosters of household and temporary-hire staff, and expenditures.


·        
The

incumbent will work flexible hours, in order to manage and serve at receptions,

dinner parties, and other events.


·        
Performing

other related duties as assigned by the employer


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate for the
Residence

Manager to the U.S. Ambassador career opportunity should have a minimum of two

years’ experience in a related job.


·        
Prior

hospitality industry experience is an added advantage .


·        
Ability

to manage a small budget/bookkeeping.


·        
Skills

and experience in menu planning, shopping and procurement for representational

events and the overall general operation of the residence.


·        
Ability

to supervise others.


·        
Basic

computer and internet skills, basic knowledge of Word and Excel.


·        
Familiarity

with Continental and/or American entertaining styles and cuisine, and

willingness to cook and serve when necessary.


·        
Proven

ability to multi-task and work independently with little or no supervision,

while managing with a positive and energetic manner the varying requests and

requirements of multiple parties.


·        
Excellent

interpersonal skills:


The ability to work amicably in a high-pressure environment.


·        
The

Residence Manager must be able to work independently, exercise tact in dealing

with all levels of personnel and must have supervisory skills.


·        
Language

Requirement:
Level

III spoken and written English ability is required.
