Baylor

College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Uganda (Baylor -Uganda) is a

private not for profit NGO that provides: HIV/AIDS care, treatment and

prevention services; maternal child health services; Health Professional

training and Clinical Research.


Job Summary: The Business Development Manager will be tasked

with reviewing and implementing resource mobilization systems and guidelines to

improve financial resources in Baylor-Uganda in line with the Directorate’s

mission.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The incumbent will develop and implement

    policies, strategies and procedures on resource mobilization and monitor

    the compliance of staff to the approved policies and procedures in line with

    the Directorate’s mission.

  • Develop periodic operational resource

    mobilization activity plans and budgets and submit monthly and quarterly

    performance reports to the supervisor in line with the Baylor-Uganda

    financial and reporting guidelines.

  • Prepare and submit proposals for donors and

    development finance institutions and provide technical support to

    departmental/unit/project heads in preparation and development of fundable

    quality proposals for the organization’s programmes to leverage additional

    resources for Baylor-Uganda in accordance with the organization’s proposal

    writing guidelines

  • Develop a system to identify and monitor the

    implementation of non-donor funded strategies while involving

    Baylor-Uganda line supervisors as per the agreed upon periodic resource

    mobilization targets for each department/unit/project to increase on

    resources in line with the Baylor-Uganda resource mobilization policy.

  • The jobholder will build the capacity of

    Baylor-Uganda staff and partners in resource mobilization i.e. in

    fundraising aspects, donor relating/guidelines as per the identified needs

    to enhance their resource mobilization skills in line with the Baylor- Uganda

    staff development policy.

  • Identify the organization’s finance

    deficit/gap, and liaise with the key stakeholders to develop a periodic

    aggressive resource mobilization strategic plan which covers fundraising

    aspects to curb the deficit/generate more funds then follow up on

    corrective actions in line with Baylor-Uganda’s resource mobilization

    policy.

  • Develop and maintain a donor database

    including contact details, areas of interest/objectives, funding and

    contractual modalities and formats with a view to sustaining existing

    cordial relationships and identifying new potential funding opportunities

    in line with Baylor- Uganda’s resource mobilization policy.

  • Build, strengthen and maintain partnerships

    and networks with potential donors Including local funding agencies,

    corporate sectors and international donors to foster a profitable working

    relationship with Baylor-Uganda and continuous fundraising in line with

    donor requirements and Baylor-Uganda’s resource mobilization policy.

  • Develop and implement a procedure to enhance

    preparation and prompt submission of high quality technical and financial

    accountability reports to donors and other relevant partner institutions,

    as per the requirements of donors and other relevant partner institutions

    in line with Baylor-Uganda’s resource mobilization policy.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should preferably hold a Master’s

    degree with cores in: strategic planning and organizational development. .Any additional health related qualification will be an added advantage

  • A minimum of three (3) years working related

    experience in a reputable Non- Governmental Organization

  • Broad working knowledge of project planning

    & management principles

  • Working knowledge of donor guidelines with broad

    understanding of Resource mobilization, with experience in writing

    fundable proposals.

  • Good team work and communication skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Good networking and partnership skills.

  • The applicant must be dynamic, Persuasive

    & convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high initiative.

  • She/he must have published some papers in

    regard to policy development or organizational development/improvement.

  • Age: Between 35- 50 years
