Reports to: Assistant Commissioner, Public &

Corporate Affairs


Job Summary:  The

URA Manager Public and Corporate Affairs will oversee all corporate initiatives

geared towards tax awareness; enhance URA corporate brand and effective

corporate communication so as to bolster URA’s image and visibility.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee

    and coordinate corporate events to enhance URA’s visibility and corporate

    image.

  • Actively

    coordinate the development of customer care initiatives that enhance

    clients satisfaction and compliance

  • Guide

    the implementation of all activities geared towards tax awareness in the

    public through tax education programs in order to enhance compliance

  • Manage

    corporate communication to ensure that information disseminated to both

    internal and external stakeholders is consistent and appropriate.

  • Coordinate

    strategies that promote the URA brand and monitor its usage to enhance the

    corporate image and visibility.

  • Plan

    and manage the performance and development of staff under supervision so

    as to improve their productivity.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The

    candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following

    disciplines; Mass Communication, Journalism, or International Relations

    from a recognized academic institution.

  • Post

    graduate qualification in any of the following areas; Marketing,

    Communication, Business Administration, or International Relations.

  • Professional

    Qualification in marketing (CIM) will be an added advantage.

  • A

    minimum of five or more years’ working experience in a Public Relations

    office in a reputable Organization; three (03) of which should have been

    at a supervisory/line management level.

  • Working

    knowledge of Tax Laws of Uganda and East Africa.


The Uganda Revenue Authority

(URA) was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991 and set

up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and

collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to

such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all

the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization

(URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were

responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.
