Raising Voices is a non-profit
organization which works to prevent interpersonal violence that happens in the
home, in the communities and within institutions that community members use on
a regular basis. Our work is organized into two departments; prevention of
violence against women (VAW) and prevention of violence against children (VAC).
Job Summary: The Research Assistant will be engaged in multiple
research partnerships and evaluative studies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Gain
experience with applied research related to the prevention of violence against
women and violence against children
·
Actively
engage in conceptual discussions around dimensions of quality programming and
develop familiarity with the existing evidence around what works to prevent
violence
·
Take
part in staff processes aimed at reflecting on research findings and
incorporating insights into programming
·
Work
within a dynamic team committed to operationalizing the learning strategy at
Raising Voices
·
Opportunities
for co‐authorship
·
Render
support in the analysis of survey data for multiple evaluation studies
·
Organize
and code interview and focus‐group
data using deductive and inductive approaches
·
Conduct
systematic literature review for papers in progress
·
Assist
prepare for a midline assessment in 8 districts of Uganda
·
Contribute
to writing of findings and creating/editing summaries for different audiences (including
government, communities, children, and global experts).
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The
applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree. Possession of a Master’s
degree or PhD candidate preferred
·
Proficient
understanding qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
·
Proven
ability to analyze and interpret data in professional settings (beyond
coursework)
·
The
Research Assistant should have experience and interest in programmatic research
·
Excellent
writing skills
·
Motivated,
self‐driven and
committed to violence prevention and applied research
·
Computer
literacy skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, statistical program (STATA/SPSS/SAS)
·
Experience
conducting literature reviews (MEDLINE, PubMed, Google Scholar), experience
with qualitative data analysis, knowledge of cohort evaluation design.
