Coordinator


Raising Voices is a non-profit

organization which works to prevent interpersonal violence that happens in the

home, in the communities and within institutions that community members use on

a regular basis. Our work is organized into two departments; prevention of

violence against women (VAW) and prevention of violence against children (VAC).


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Work

in liaison with the VAW team in playing a lead role in designing, implementing

and monitoring the Practice area of work.


·        
Actively

engage proactively in the evolution of new program areas, leading new

initiatives as appropriate, contributing to thinking and monitoring of new

work.


·        
Develop,

organize and facilitate dynamic trainings and learning experiences based on the

SASA! Activist Kit and related Raising Voices’ methodologies.


·        
Offer

quality onsite technical support on VAW prevention independently to a variety

of large and small organizations using SASA! in Uganda and around the world.


·        
Actively

facilitate visits from partners at the Raising Voices VAW Prevention Learning

Center.


·        Participate proactively in restructuring the methodology of the Learning Center

and development of VAW prevention courses.


·        
Provide

support to SASA! roll out and ToT partners and partners undertaking adaptations

of SASA!


·        
Develop

and produce quality materials, publications and reports about VAW prevention.


·        
Lead

Raising Voices’ VAW department in developing and implementing a national

advocacy strategy.


·        
Represent

Raising Voices in local, national, regional and international events when

appropriate.


·        
Create

and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with all CEDOVIP

and Raising Voices staff, staff of partner organizations including CBOs, NGOs,

INGOs, etc


·        
Work

as part of the Raising Voices team providing support and assistance to other

Raising Voices and CEDOVIP staff where possible and needed.


·        
Technically

support the growth and quality programming of Raising Voices as an organization

including participating fully in staff learning and planning processes.


·        
Adhere

to all organizational policies, systems and procedures.


·        
Send

timely, quality planning, documentation and monitoring as required by the

department.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate should preferably hold a relevant first degree, MA a plus


·        
A

minimum of five years’ NGO experience in a senior position


·        
Proven

track record in VAW prevention programming at the community level


·        
Excellent

analytical and writing skills, computer literate


·        
Open

and honest attitude toward work and colleagues.


·        
Possess

the ability to work constructively with staff, providing technical support that

is positive not punitive.


·        
Maintains

high standards of quality programming and professionalism.


·        
Ability

to create dynamic and engaging, learner-centered training experiences.


·        
Ability

to problem solve productively and professionally.


·        
Capacity

and willingness to think outside the box and take initiative in new and

creative ways.


·        
Keen

interest and ability to promote women’s rights within a feminist framework.


·        
Ability

to take initiative without being prodded.


·        
Ability

to work well independently while being part of a team.


·        
Self-motivated

and committed to Raising Voices and violence prevention.
