Bridge International Academies Job Opportunities - Academy Improvement Manager ~ Ugandan Jobline Jobs

Organisation: Bridge

International Academies

Duty

Station:
Kampala, Uganda

Aikan HR Consultants seeks to

recruit for its valuable client, Bridge International Academies, the world’s

largest chain of primary and pre-primary schools bringing world-class education

to the poorest of the poor, democratizing the right to succeed.

Bridge leverages research,

technology, and data analysis in order to standardize and scale the entire

lifecycle of high-quality education delivery and to drive continuous

improvement across all aspects of operations.

This includes how academies are built, teachers are selected and

trained, lessons are delivered and monitored for improvement, and more. Bridge

pupils gain an additional .34 standard deviation on core reading skills and an

additional .51 standard deviation on maths compared to their peers in

neighboring schools, based on USAID-designed exams administered by an

independent monitoring and Evaluation Company – this translated into over 250

additional days of learning. Thanks to economies of scale, Bridge is able to

charge just $6 a month per pupil on average with academies reaching operational

sustainability after just one year.

Key Duties and

Responsibilities:

  • Work

closely with a large group of academies in your territory to ensure that the

academies are operating at the highest levels across operations,

    instruction and finance.

  • This

role requires a constant presence at the Academies and close interaction and

engagement with each Academy Manager, as well as Academy Teachers, to

ensure that there is continuous bi-directional communication and coaching.

  • Academy

Improvement Managers completely own (and therefore are accountable for)

the performance metrics of all of the Academies in your territory, as

measured by financial, operational and instructional benchmarks.

  • In

addition to interactions with Academies, the Academy Improvement Manager

is expected to build close relationships with the local and District

Government officials, as well as the Chief and local community leaders to

    promote Bridge’s interests.

  • Equally

important is the ability to build continuous interactions with parents of

the children in the Academy, so as to keep a constant monitor on the pulse

    of the activities in Academy.

  • Travel:

Must travel on a daily basis via public means to Academies in your

    region.  Depending on region,

Academy Improvement Managers may spend as many as15 nights per month away

from home to meet the travel demands of the territory. Our academies are

based in poor slums and communities all over the country.

Qualifications, Skills and

Experience:

  • The

ideal candidate for the Academy Improvement Manager should hold a relevant Bachelor’s

    Degree

  • The

candidate should also be dynamic, articulate, organized with an attention

to detail. Must be passionate about following processes and procedures,

    and be extremely data-driven.

  • Must

care about education and schooling in general.

  • Past

experience in a low cost schooling environment is an added advantage

  • Capable

of a consultative, coaching and mentoring approach to help Bridge Academy

Managers improve their performance, but also capable of taking a

commanding “no-nonsense” approach to enforce the desired actions as

    necessary.

  • The

incumbent must be comfortable working in impoverished communities.
