The Islamic University in
Uganda (IUIU) is a multi-campus University offering courses at undergraduate
and postgraduate levels. The main objective of the University is to serve the
higher education needs of the Muslim communities in the English-Speaking
African countries, although the University has a substantial number of
non-Muslim students and staff.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
- The
Rector will serve as the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the
University; - Charged
with the mobilization and management of funds, property and business of
IUIU; - Responsible
for the administration and control of staff of IUIU; - The
incumbent also serves as the Secretary to the University Council and keeps
the records of the Council; - The
Rector will be responsible for the public image and public relations
officer of the University; - He
/ she will serve as the academic leader of the institution and must plan
and lead the scholarship, knowledge production and dissemination
activities of the University
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The
Rector should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline from a recognized
University, - The
applicant must have taught in a university for at least ten years - The
incumbent should have been a Dean, Director, Deputy Vice
Chancellor/Rector, Vice Chancellor/Rector, will be an added advantage - Demonstrated
management abilities - Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills - The
incumbent must be a practicing Muslim and responsive to Muslim social
concerns in Africa especially the Eastern African region - Detailed
understanding and knowledge of higher education systems in Africa and the
Muslim World - Proven
high level of integrity - Must
be an effective team worker - Age:
Between 40 and 60 years of age at the time of appointment, - Must
be computer literate and familiar with modern ICT administrative
technology - Fluency
in English (both spoken and written) is required; knowledge of another OIC
official language, Arabic and/or French will be desirable and an
advantage.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Must
provide strategic, academic, financial and social direction to the
University. - Enhance
quality and excellence in skills empowerment to students, knowledge
production, storage and dissemination. - Be
an effective resource mobilizer for the University - Enhance
and protect the IUIU image. - Promote
IUIU at the national and international levels

if the applicant is employed, from whom letters of recommendations can be
solicited by the Search Committee; - Certified
copies of academic documents- including transcripts and certificates. - Evidence
of the qualifications and experience including written evidence that the
titles and qualification the applicant claims to have are genuine; - Evidence
of medical fitness;
