The Education

Service Commission is established by article 167 91) of the 1995 Constitution

of the Republic of Uganda and article 168 (1) sets out its functions, authority

and autonomy in implementing its mandate. The vision of Education Service Commission

is to see “quality education delivered by efficient and effective education

service personnel.”

Job Summary:  The Principal will oversee and provide

technical guidance/ leadership in the academic and administrative programs of

the Petroleum institution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
Ensure proper accountability for all institutional

resources.

·        
In charge of effective and efficient performance of

both academic and administrative functions of the institution.

·        
Responsible for admissions in conformity with

approved policies.

·        
In charge of curriculum management and

implementation

·        
General discipline of staff and students as well as

their welfare and academic performance.

·        
Staff appraisals, including compiling and submitting

annual performance reports.

·        
In charge of initiating and preparing development and

work plans for the Petroleum institution.

·        
Responsible for mobilizing funds and other resources

for the institution

·        
Performing public relations functions for the institution.

·        
Managing all institution activities and programmes.

·        
The incumbent will also serve as the secretary to

the Governing Council

·        
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the

relevant authority

Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

·        
The applicant should hold a Master of Science Degree

in either Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering or its equivalent

obtained from a recognized University or Training Institution. Possession of a

post graduate qualification in management is an added advantage.

·        
At least twelve years’ experience, three (3) of

which should have been at the level of Deputy Principal, Scale U1E or six (6)

years at Principal Officer level, Scale U2 in a recognized Tertiary

Institution.

The complete

applications should bear the title of the post as well as the reference number

specified against the post. Applicants should attach photocopies of their

certificates and transcripts and any relevant document(s) plus three recent
