Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA) is the trade

association for cooperative businesses in the United States and an

international development organization. NCBA CLUSA provides cross-sector

education, technical assistance, and advocacy that helps cooperatives thrive.

For nearly 100 years, NCBA CLUSA has sought to advance and protect cooperative

enterprises, highlighting the impact that cooperatives have in bettering the

lives of individuals and families. In the last 60 years, NCBA CLUSA has worked

in over 100 countries in the areas of food security, agricultural development,

strengthening of communities and farmer organizations, community-based health,

natural resources management, and empowerment of smallholder farmers, women,

and youth.


About MasterCard Foundation Project:


NCBA CLUSA

Uganda has received funding from MasterCard Foundation to reach young people in

Northern and Mid – Western Uganda in the ages of 15 – 24 and support them to

establish sustainable commercial enterprises. The organization is therefore

seeking for qualified candidates for the following positions on its MasterCard

funded project: Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture (YETA).


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  


·        
Ensure that financial and cash management systems

are in place and adhered to and that internal audits indicate compliance


·        
The incumbent will manage the bank accounts,

ensuring that proper documentation is sent and received from the bank; maintain

proper and correct accounting and physical assets inventory records.


·        
Actively monitor procurement activities to ensure

they are in line with the project and US government regulations


·        
Offer financial oversight to the work of the Finance

& Administration officer regarding petty cash, writing checks, support

documentation, prepare vouchers for payments and online payments


·        
Enter cash payments and cash receivables into the

CLUSA Uganda accounting system and liaise with home office when needed to

ensure proper entries and corrections are made


·        
Develop and maintain systems to ensure open and

transparent communication with all staff


·        
Prepare and send the monthly financial reports to

the Director, Finance & Administration before it is sent to home office


·        
Prepare and deliver orientation sessions to staff to

explain administrative and financial policies and procedures and schedule no

less than semi-annual refresher sessions along with periodic memos updating

staff on issues or concerns that need to be addressed; responsible for ensuring

compliance by all staff


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  


·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s

degree in Accounting, Finance: CPA preferred


·        
A minimum of three years of related work experience


·        
Proven exposure and experience with computerized

accounting software and excel spreadsheets


·        
Prior work experience with QuickBooks accounting

software


·        
Excellent English language skills


·        
Ability to work with people and willingness to

support and train others
