Joint Clinical
Research Centre (JCRC) is a National Ugandan Organization that was established
in 1991 as a Medical Institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing
in Medical Research, Health Care and Training.
Job Summary: The Nursing
Officer will mainly be responsible for assessing patient’s health problems and
needs, develop and implement nursing care, maintain medical records and engage
in research activities as requested. He/she shall also advise patients on
health.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Admit and Discharge of patients:
·
The incumbent will also administer drugs and
treatment according to doctors’ prescription, observe and record patients’
progress.
·
Plan patients’ care including diet, as per doctors’
direction.
·
Carry out Doctors’ rounds.
·
Manage clinical investigations
·
Update and maintain patients’ records
·
Prepare and submit reports as per hospital/ nursing
rules.
·
Inform relatives and friends regarding patients’
progress and needs.
·
Conduct orientation of new staff to the ward.
·
Keep custody and control of dangerous drugs surgical
supplies, store supplies, linen, etc.
·
In charge of requisition for ward supplies.
·
Direct and supervise less skilled nursing/ health
care personnel.
·
Plan and conduct team building activities.
·
Actively engage in research activities.
·
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from
time to time by the Chief Nursing Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Diploma
in Nursing
·
At least two years’ working experience.
·
The applicant must be registered with the Allied
Health Professionals Council.
