Housing Finance

Bank was incorporated as a private company under the Companies Act in December

1967 and it has become a household name and has grown in leaps and bounds with

a good track record among the pioneers of a mortgage lending. National Housing

& Construction Corporation, a parastatal involved in real estate business

has 5% shareholding and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) holds 50% and the

Government of Uganda holds 45%. Today, the bank looks back with pride on the

business accomplished in the mortgage lending business. Through innovation and

placing emphasis on Honesty, Integrity, Efficiency and Customer care, Housing

Finance Bank is the leader in the mortgage, holding a 90% market share.


Job Summary: The Senior

Manager Credit Evaluation will be in charge of growing and maintaining a credit

portfolio of the highest quality through the implementation of sound credit

risk management and credit underwriting process to minimize credit risk in line

with Credit regulatory frameworks.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Regularly review, implement and enforce use of

appropriate analysis tools that capture accurate and complete state of the

borrower to keep credit exposures within set risk bearing limits in line with

credit policies and regulatory frameworks.


·        
Appraise credit proposals submitted by the respective

business units to recommend, approve, reject applications in accordance with

the Credit Policy and procedures manual.


·        
Advise, as appropriate, on the structuring of credit

facility terms, conditions and improvements to the documentation by the

respective business units in order to mitigate credit risk and enhance the

quality of information received by the approving authorities to make a credit

decision.


·        
Keenly review and recommend changes to the Credit Policy

and procedures as part of the overall credit risk management framework, for approval

by the Board of Directors


·        
Improve the quality of credit underwriting through

subscribing to relevant information channels, receive updates regarding the

industry or sector economic trends in line with credit policies and procedures.


·        
Conduct, monitor and enforce timely analysis of

credit applications received by the section within the Bank’s acceptable

timelines as per the agreed Service Level Agreements.


·        
Keenly track and monitor the performance of staff under

direct supervision in accordance with the Performance Management guidelines and

‘policies.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The applicant should hold an Honours degree in

business or related field from a recognized University.


·        
Possession of a post graduate qualification /

Professional Course in relevant discipline would be an added advantage.


·        
At least seven years’ experience in credit analysis, three of which should be at a managerial level.


·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of laws and

regulations relating to lending in Financial Institutions.


·        
Credit analysis and underwriting

Good numerical skills and ability

Computer literacy skills
