Engineer
Umeme is a
public company cross listed on both the Uganda Securities Exchange and the
Nairobi Securities Exchange with over 6,483 shareholders, including high value
international institutional investors. Umeme operates under a concession with a
structural monopoly in the distribution of electricity across Uganda,
distributing 99% of electricity in Uganda through a single buyer model.
Job Summary: The Technical Officer – New Connections will
support Umeme in New Connection installations, meter replacements to ensure quick
and timely resolution of all faults so promote continuity of reliable and
efficient supply as well as support other maintenance activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will install and protect meter
installations to the right standard.
·
Attend to reported incidents on time.
·
Responsible for troubleshooting metering
installations
·
Inspect Metering Installations
·
Assess the requirements for fault resolutions
·
Conduct routine maintenance on network and network
related installations
·
Conduct switching operations and network inspections
·
Promptly act and accurately report and/or escalate
all safety incidents, near-misses inclusive, in accordance with the Company
safety incident reporting procedure.
·
Conduct load balancing on distribution transformers.
·
Identify and advise on areas that need system
improvement
·
Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly faults
related reports
·
Carry out community visits for safety related
sensitizations
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The Technical Officer New Connections should hold a Diploma
in Electrical Engineering
·
A minimum of two years of post-qualification
experience in the electricity industry.
·
Working knowledge of the Electricity Distribution

Ability to work under minimal supervision
·

·
Excellent analytical skills
