The Government

of The Republic of Uganda has received financing from the Global Alliance for

Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) towards the cost of the Health Systems

Strengthening and immunization strengthening in Uganda.


Job Summary: The Cold Chain

Technician will be in charge of installing and maintaining efficient Cold Chain

systems for the safe storage of vaccines at all levels.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
The incumbent will be in charge of planning,

coordinating, monitoring and evaluating cold chain activities in Health units;


·        
Responsible for installing, maintaining and

servicing refrigerators and other cold chain equipment;


·        
Preparing and keeping and an up-to-date cold chain

inventory


·        
In charge of reporting, requisitioning and

accounting for vaccines, equipment and allocated resources;


·        
Adhering to professional code of conduct and ethics;


·        
Actively participating in research activities;           


·        
The job holder will also take part in programme and

monitoring and evaluation activities;


·        
Providing safe custody for the equipment and

maintain their functionality


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the Cold Chain Technician

placement must hold an Ordinary Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.


·        
At least five years of related work experience.


·        
Highly self motivated;          


·        
Ability to work and minimum supervision;


·        
Computer skills are an added advantage;


·        
Concern for quality and standards;


·        
Excellent communication skills and team-work;


·        
Ability to conduct field visits;
