Orient bank is

Job Summary: The Head of

Treasury will coordinate the overall management of the bank’s balance sheet to

achieve the stated goals and objectives of the bank by;


·        
Overseeing, controlling and continuously upgrading the

bank’s risk management strategies.


·        
Managing and directing the activities of the dealing

team to ensure achievement of established targets


·        
Actively promoting, controlling and co-coordinating

bank’s treasury business with a view of maximizing income derived from trading

and financing activities within ALCO and regulatory guidelines


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  


·        
Communicate the bank’s strategic direction and

objectives and ensure alignment of divisional goals and activities with the

bank’s vision, mission and corporate goals and objectives


·        
The incumbent will continually reassess the bank’s

policies and practices relating to treasury division and champion the

articulation and implementation of the necessary changes in line with best

practices


·        
Provide leadership and guidance to departmental

staff and coordinate activities within the division to ensure compliance with

the bank’s internal policies and procedures as well as regulatory and statutory

requirements


·        
Coordinate and oversee the development of the

division budget


·        
Ensure the judicious management of the bank’s

liquidity to meet all likely contingencies in line with ALCO guidelines.


·        
Build and strengthen working relationships with

Treasurers of other banks, discount houses and top management of BOU and other

regulators


·        
Mentor and supervise trading and marketing

activities of the units within the division in line with the Bank’s Business objectives

and strategic plan.


·        
Ensure optimal liquidity with surplus funds invested

in short term instruments


·        
Approve deposit rate sheets to facilitate the bank’s

business


·        
Attend to all correspondences pertaining to treasury

business in the Bank.


·        
Keenly review and authorize transactions of the

division in line with the Bank’s policy


·        
Manage the interface between FX treasury, LCY

trading and across other functions in the bank in order to ensure smooth

functioning of the division


·        
Ensure compliance with internal and statutory

imposed regulations


·        
Actively monitor and report market trend and

implications on the bank’s business at Executive Management meeting


·        
Act on behalf of and perform other duties whenever

mandated by the CEO/MD


·        
Maximize revenues derived from Forex trading and

financing activities within agreed income budgets


·        
Oversight of Dealing room risk i.e. Liquidity,

currency and Interest rate risk within regulatory guidelines and deadlines


·        
The incumbent will also manage the Bank’s ALCO

process within agreed procedures and deadlines


·        
Build and strengthen client relationships with

objective of providing quality customer service and seeking new business

opportunities in line with the banks overall strategic objectives

External and Internal customer satisfaction levels

Customer penetration evidenced by volume/value of

products per customer


·        
Regulatory compliance


·        
Income target


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  


·        
The applicant should preferably hold a first degree

or its equivalent in any discipline.


·        
A minimum of ten years’ cognate experience with a

minimum of 5(five) years in treasury and three (3) years managerial/supervisory

capacity


·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of debt and equity

structuring with emphasis on dynamics of other Nigerian money and capital

market operations


·        
Working Knowledge of liability management, interest

rate risk management and contingency funding


·        
Good credit knowledge


·        
Good dealing experience


·        
Detailed understanding of the Ugandan banking

system, capital market operations and good exposure to other international

banking systems


·        
Strong understanding of long and short-term cash

forecast models


·        
Broad understanding of domestic and international

treasury operations, risk management and bank relationship management


·        
Ability to demonstrate commitment to ethical

standards and high level of integrity


·        
A good motivational and team leader
