Job Summary: The Strategic

Communications Manager (Social and Behaviour Change Communication) will mainly

be responsible for providing professional guidance and technical advisory

services in Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) at the institutional

level, including designing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring the

execution of UHMG’s communication strategies and campaigns. The incumbent will

be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all of the

Organization’s Strategic Communication strategies, including the management of

communication stakeholder relationships, communication processes, media

negotiation and management, brand communications, and digital and social media

management.  The job holder also oversees

the development and distribution of SBCC/IEC collateral, materials and

services, and is the focal person for all UHMG communication coordination

components with Ad-Agencies, Printing and Production services, and Community

Activation. In collaboration with the supervisor, the job holder directs the

efforts of BCC and brand communications staff, and coordinates them at the

strategic level with the other functions of the Organization. S/he will work

with the project team and ensure regular review and update on all communication

programming decisions. S/he shall demonstrate commitment to discover new,

innovative, and unique communication strategies and trends with changing times.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the design, development, and delivery of the

Institutional SBCC Strategy, and lead the development and implementation of the

Above-The-Line (mass media) communication, Interpersonal communication, Social

Media Communication campaigns, and brand promotion activities.


·        
Design Communication and Branding Guidelines to

guide the day-to-day implementation of integrated project communication

activities and results-oriented interventions, monitors progress and ensures

adherence to set guidelines.


·        
The incumbent will also support quality assurance in

all strategies, materials and activities undertaken in the communication

departments, and ensure, that they adhere to relevant UHMG and MOH, and other

key stakeholder policies, guidelines and standards.


·        
Build networks and  partnerships with the Ministry of Health and

key implementing partners to support the continued implementation of UHMG’s

interventions.


·        
Develop and manage the implementation of all

communication and marketing activities, and materials, and act as the

representative with all communication vendors of UHMG.


·        
Harmonize implementation of multi-projects and

promotes collaboration, supervises multi-project teams to ensure effective

implementation, and ensures that the Good Life brand is used correctly in all

products and services materials including promotional materials, activities,

packaging, sales materials, job aids, POS materials, and provider materials.


·        
Work with production houses to ensure quality

production and timeliness for both print and broadcast materials.


·        
Work in liaison with the Research Department, is

responsible for the implementation and development of formative research and

pretesting of all communication and marketing materials. Work with other

technical managers to develop and implement operational researches on service

uptake and effectiveness of communication approaches, and ensures studies

inform communication strategy development and program implementation.

Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring

the success of communication interventions intended to increase the uptake of

healthy behaviours, and create demand for UHMG’s products and services.


·        
Develop work plans, media plans, and Budgets for the

Communications Department.


·        
Prepare and submit timely periodic reports for the

department as may be required by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s

Degree in Mass Communication, Commerce (Marketing), Business Administration


·        
Possession of a Master’s Degree in PHP, or Communication

is an added advantage


·        
Prior experience in Behavior Change Communication,

digital marketing tools, and social media is essential


·        
Relevant product and industry knowledge


·        
At least four years’ relevant work experience

working in related work in a busy office and multi-cultural setting.

Specialized training in Marketing and or communication is an added advantage


·        
Demonstrated handling of BCC interventions and

hands-on experience in driving targeted SBCC campaigns


·        
This position requires a self-driven, seasoned, and

experienced person in SBCC, with creative flare, passion for, and extensive

knowledge in the areas of marketing and behavior change communication.


·        
Prior experience in Communication stakeholder

management, and managing cross functional teams, including field support teams


·        
Good managerial and organizational and planning

abilities.


·        
Result-oriented and strategic management skills.


·        
Excellent communication, public relations, advocacy,

negotiation, interpersonal, analytical and result-oriented and presentation

skills.


·        
Team leadership with demonstrated ability to

coordinate efforts of various teams to present a coherent message.


·        
The person should be detail- and results-oriented,

have strong conceptual, analytical, and presentation skills, with expertise in

proactive information gathering, analysis and impact monitoring, be proactive,

and institute innovative sustainable interventions, and should have the

capacity to work with minimum supervision, while upholding the Core Values of

UHMG.


·        
Excellent proposal/reporting writing skills.


·        
Good judgment, initiative, high sense of

responsibility, tact and discretion.


·        
Problem analysis and problem-solving,

persuasiveness, judgment, adaptability, decision-making skills


·        
Should be flexible, innovative, with good communication,

presentation and interpersonal and team work skills.


·        
Should be a person of integrity, energetic, dynamic

team player, and portray innovation.


·        
A self-starter, and able to work with minimum

supervision.


·        
Computer literacy skills with knowledge of MS Excel,

Word, Power Point, and Outlook.


·        
Able to work under pressure with competing

deadlines.


·        
Able to work with a multi-cultural environment

within the organization.
