About USAID UHSC Project:


Management

Sciences for Health (MSH) is implementing a USAID-funded project called the

Uganda Health Supply Chain, a five year program supporting the Government of

Uganda’s health system to improve the availability and accessibility of

essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS). The expected results of are

to:1) strengthen national policies and strategies and support cost-effective,

equitable, and transparent utilization of EMHS resources; 2) strengthen country

capacity for effective management and utilization of EMHS; and 3) increase

availability and access of EMHS among priority populations.


Job Summary: The Technical

Advisor -Appropriate Medicine use (AMU) will be responsible for initiatives

targeted at improving appropriate medicine use in the Pharmacy Division and Uganda

Health Supply Chain (UHSC). The incumbent will work in liaison in the design

and implementation of strategies for improving medicines use across different

levels of the health system. The Technical Advisor AMU will work in

collaboration with the quality assurance and health promotion and education

teams, as well as the regional pharmacist to implement AMU interventions.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The applicant should preferably hold a good Master’s

degree in Public health, health economics or clinical pharmacy


·        
The ideal candidate must be a medical doctor or

pharmacist with interest and documented experience in AMU


·        
A minimum of five years’ experience working with or

in a clinical setting or public health programmes


·        
Previous exposure and experience with designing and

implementing behavioral change communication (BCC) and IEC programmes is an

added advantage


·        
Working knowledge and understanding of the Uganda

public health system


·        
Previous experience with MTC and the use of logistic

and financial data to strengthen AMU


·        
Capacity building experience including experience in

development of training material Experience in designing and implementing

intervention studies


·        
Previous experience and expertise in guideline

development


·        
Proven management, administrative, leadership and

coordination skills


·        
Keen attention to detail


·        
Strong teamwork and team-building skills


·        
Strong English skills required, including ability to

write technical reports and documents


·        
Good computer skills including knowledge of MS Word,

Excel and Power Point


·        
Prior experience working with USAID-funded projects

is an added advantage
