elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Our mission is

to help people living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their

lives which last and spread without on-going support from Concern.


Job Summary: The Programme Officer (Functional Adult

Literacy/Hospitality) will be responsible for management of the Functional

Adult Literacy (FAL) and the hospitality training components of the programme. The

incumbent will work with sub-county and district local government to implement

these components of the programme, including lessons and learning review. The

incumbent will be tasked with preparing and submitting monthly and other

progress reports and will work closely with local partners, community groups

and local government.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Programme Officer

    (FAL/ Hospitality) job opportunity should hold a University degree in

    community development, Adult and Community Education, Social work or any

    other relevant discipline.

  • At least five years’ experience in community

    development work in a challenging environment, preferably with an

    International NGO.

  • Significant exposure and experience implementing

    functional adult literacy programmes and working with local government to

    implement development programmes.

  • Previous experience working in vocational

    skills training programme

  • At minimum, a basic understanding of

    NgaKarimojong and a strong understanding of issues affecting youth,

    particularly in the Karamoja context is required.

  • The candidate must be proficient in both

    spoken and written English.

  • Possession of a valid motorbike permit (Class

    A) is desirable.
