The

Embassy of Ireland is a diplomatic mission that represents the economic,

political, cultural and social interests of the Government of Ireland in

Uganda. It is responsible for implementing and overseeing Irish Aid Uganda

Development Programme, catering for the consular needs of Irish citizens in

Uganda and promoting cultural interaction between Ireland and Uganda.


Job Summary: The Driver will support the Embassy of Ireland in

Uganda through the provision of timely and efficient transport to staff and

Embassy guests which is an essential part of the Embassy’s work.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide timely and efficient provision of

    transport for Embassy staff and guests as required. Ensure vehicles are

    maintained in a clean and roadworthy condition.

  • Regularly report any defects to the Head

    Driver and Fleet Manager for follow up remedial action. Maintain accurate

    mileage for official vehicles.

  • Update and maintain accurate records of fuel

    consumption.

  • Report all incidents and accidents to the

    Head Driver immediately. Complete accident reports promptly and correctly

    (if in position to do so)

  • In charge of the delivery of official mail as

    required.
     


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidates for the Embassy Driver

    Job should at least hold an ‘A’ Level Certificate of Education

  • Hold a clean and valid driving license (Class

    A,C, E)

  • At least five years of professional driving

    experience, with two years working for a reputable organisation as a

    driver on a wide range of vehicles such as 4×4, diesel, shift stick and

    automatic gears.

  • Mechanical knowledge of vehicles is

    desirable.

  • Fluent English and good writing skills.

  • Possess good driving skills and a proven safe

    driving record.

  • Previous experience of working with an

    international organisation or embassy would be an advantage.            .

  • Highly reliable, honest and trustworthy.

  • The applicant must also be disciplined and

    exhibit a high level of confidence in their work.

  • The jobholder should be punctual, courteous

    and responsible.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and

    excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care

    skills
