About USAID UHSC Project:


Management

Sciences for Health (MSH) is implementing a USAID-funded project called the

Uganda Health Supply Chain, a five year program supporting the Government of

Uganda’s health system to improve the availability and accessibility of

essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS). The expected results of are

to:1) strengthen national policies and strategies and support cost-effective,

equitable, and transparent utilization of EMHS resources; 2) strengthen country

capacity for effective management and utilization of EMHS; and 3) increase

availability and access of EMHS among priority populations.


Job Summary: The Data Analyst will be responsible for the

oversight of data entry, analysis and that the information is fed into

quarterly Lab SPARS report to the district and CPHL for the USAID UHSC Project.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the daily data management

    functions of SPARS program data. He/ she is responsible for the updating,

    maintenance and validation of SPARS databases

  • Responsible for merging other Logistics data

    from SLMTA/SLIPTA, LIMS and DHIS2 to populate CPHL indicators and Linking

    them to SPARS database

  • Technically support the rollout of LAB SPARS

    through orientation of users of SPARs database training for new and

    existing mentors, supervisors, DLFPs & District Biostatisticians in

    use of the SPARS tools

  • The incumbent serves as the first point of

    contact for hardware/software problems for users using the LAB SPARS

    database in the facilities/field

  • Take part in the design of assessments data

    tools, collection of data from the field for CPHL/NHLS

  • Provide technical support in adhoc data

    searches for the generation of reports.

  • Offer support in the mapping of equipment

    inventory at facility level and generating alerts for any break down to

    enable distribution of lab reagents

  • Support the improvement of SPARS data

    quality, through data reviews, and validation to ensure consistency,

    integrity and accuracy based on the SPARs specific guidelines

  • Assist in identifying trends in LAB SPARS,

    information utilisation and areas of improvement at facility level.

  • Perform any other duties similar in nature as

    may be assigned from time to time by the M&E Advisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the USAID MSH Project

    Data Analyst Jobs should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Applied sciences,

    Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Management, Information

    Technology or a related field

  • A minimum of three years of related data

    analysis work experience.

  • Computer skills i.e. proficiency in Microsoft

    Office Suite applications and statistical packages such as Microsoft

    Project, SPSS, Epi-Info, and advanced Excel

  • Possess the ability to integrate and maintain

    databases

  • Ability to resolve data issues at national

    level

  • Working knowledge and working experience in

    laboratory logistics management information systems will be an added

    advantage

  • Strong team work, communication and project

    management skills.
