Joint Clinical

Research Centre (JCRC) is a national Ugandan Organization that was established

in 1991 as a medical institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing

in medical research, health care and training.

Job Summary:  The Plant maintenance technician manages the

maintenance of the P3 and TB laboratory equipment by carrying out machine

trouble shooting and to respond to emergencies in the P3 and TB Laboratory. The

incumbent will also be responsible for the servicing of the P3 and TB

Laboratory equipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·        
Conduct general equipment and machine troubleshooting

and non-specialised maintenance.

·        
Carry out machine maintenance of the P3 and TB

laboratory to ensure smooth running of systems.

·        
The incumbent will conduct preventive maintenance of

the air conditioning systems.

·        
Keep accurate            record

of daily maintenance and/or corrective action activities for service and audit

purposes.

·        
Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports of

the performance of the BSL2/3 units and other allocated technical areas.

·        
Work closely with the laboratory manager and AFMS to

schedule annual certification of the BSL2/3 labs.

·        
Ready to work at odd hours and respond to

emergencies.

Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

·        
The applicant should preferably hold an Ordinary

Diploma/Certificate in mechanical/electrical engineering.

·        
A minimum of two years’ experience in the field of

large air conditioning equipment, maintenance and past experience in

maintenance of general equipment will be an added advantage.

·        
Ability to work at odd hours and respond to

emergencies.
