About USAID RWANU Project:


ACDI/VOCA is an

international NGO that is currently implementing the USAID-funded PL 480 Title

II Development Food Assistance Program entitled “Resiliency through Wealth,

Agriculture, and Nutrition in Karamoja (RWANU).” The RWANU Program aims to

reduce food insecurity among vulnerable rural populations in selected

sub-counties of Amudat, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit. The Program’s

strategic objectives are (1) improved availability and access to food and (2)

reduced malnutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five.

The RWANU Program takes a preventive approach to reducing malnutrition,

focusing on the first 1,000 days of life when conditional food rations will

have the highest impact. RWANU promotes diversified livelihoods strategies

including linkages to market opportunities to ensure long-term food security

and resilience to food insecurity shocks.


Job Summary: The M&E

Specialist – Behaviour Change, Health and Nutrition will be responsible for the

implementation the M&E strategy under the program component of reducing

malnutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five. The

M&E Specialist will offer technical direction to the Health and Nutrition

Director in the evaluation, monitoring and reporting plus providing timely and

relevant information for decision making. The incumbent will carry out quantitative

and qualitative assessments, carry-out data analyses, prepare reports, and

carry out knowledge management and learning exercises. The main focus of the

position will be assessing and reporting behaviour changes in household health

practices, nutrition and health facility capacity.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  


·        
The applicant should hold a Master’s degree in

Public Health and Development Studies (with strong competence in statistics).


·        
At least three years’ experience in M&E and

conducting qualitative surveys.


·        
Strong presentation skills, speaking and writing.


·        
Excellent track record of achieving results in a

difficult working environment is required.


·        
Working knowledge of office systems, including

experience with computer applications (including SPSS, Epinfo, MS Word, MS

Excel, and Database management) is required.


·        
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the

Karamojong language is desirable.
