Sasakawa Africa

Association (SAA/SG2000) is an international non-profit organization that

promotes demonstration and widespread adoption of improved pre and

post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers in Uganda in

collaboration with relevant government institutions, farmers’ organizations and

the private sector.


Job Summary:  The Program Officer – Gender will provide technical

support to SG2000 Programs in mainstreaming gender.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
In charge of conducting training for SG2000 staff

about gender mainstreaming in policies and programmes


·        
Mentor and train change agents about gender,

communication, counselling and conflict resolution


·        
Training couples at household level in visioning,

human rights, joint planning, decision making and sharing benefits


·        
Ability to develop a gender policy and provide technical

support in its review;


·        
Training households to take farming as a business


·        
Training on Village Savings and Loan Association

(VSLA) methodology;


·        
Carry out mass media programs for sensitizing

farmers on gender issues,


·        
Build and maintain linkages for public-private partnerships.


·        
Perform any other related duties as directed by the supervisors.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The applicant

should preferably hold a bachelor’s degree in Rural Development, Gender Studies,

Social Sciences or in any other related field.
