Closing date: Friday, 16th May 2014The Systems Engineer will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of ROKE Telkom’s systems infrastructure. This position will be focused on improving the stability and performance of our systems as well as maintaining and improving the security posture of the systems.In addition this position will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of system health and troubleshooting issues that arise.Main Responsibilities will include:• Be responsible for service assurance and service delivery in a professional and customer friendly manner.• Diagnosing complex customer application issues, providing quick and accurate solutions.• Handling all 2nd level customer support tickets as assigned, ensuring they are resolved in the shortest time.• Managing voice systems and services.• Monitoring hardware health, performing periodic maintenance, upgrades, backup and optimization across production and corporate servers.• Provisioning, monitoring and maintaining services ensuring minimal setup time and maximum service availability.• Prioritising tasks effectively, documenting procedures, and setting deadlines.• Providing 24 x 7 on call support and on site for major issues.• Supporting and maintaining Linux servers in a virtualised environment.• Implementing best-practice methodologies for managing and maintaining ROKE Telkom’s data center environments.Required Qualifications and Experience:• A University degree (BSc) Computer Science/ Information Technology/ ICT from a recognized university;• A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a Systems Administrtator/Engineer ( UNIX and Windows Server system)• Knowldge and experience in managing VOIP and IP PABX systems• Understanding of networking concepts and protocols / tools• Experience in managing internet service applications ( LAMP, BIND, Postfix, Asterisk, MySQL)• Demonstrated experience with Linux VM (Proxmox and VMWare) desired.If you are interested in applying for this position please send your electronic applications including cover letter, resume and the details of three referees IN ONE DOCUMENT toadmin@roketelkom.co.ug by no later than Friday, 16th May 2014.Please note as we receive high volumes of applications only short listed applicants will be contacted. is seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with the described qualifications to apply for the following position within our Technical Department.
