Assistant National Technical Manager | ReliefWeb
Chemonics seeks a qualified Ugandan national professional to serve as the assistant national technical manager and support the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) in Uganda. This position will work closely with the national technical manager. Where appropriate, this position may also support remote monitoring of selected countries. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Support efficient, focused food security monitoring, early warning analysis, and response planning
- Effectively communicate these analyses to partners and decision-makers through high-quality reports and briefing sessions
- Support capacity building and network management
- Assist the national technical manager in providing quality control for project deliverables and ensuring that activities and products are delivered in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to FEWS NET, such as agricultural economics, agronomy, nutrition, climatology, anthropology, or social geography
- At least five years of relevant experience in early warning/food security information systems, food security analysis, and other related fields
- Excellent computer skills and GIS applications/mapping skills a plus
- Willingness to travel intensely within Uganda, as well as willingness to travel in sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, and the United States as required
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
