manufacturers of consumer tobacco products rely on independent merchants such

as Alliance One to supply the majority of their leaf. As a result Alliance One

purchases tobacco in more than 45 countries and serves manufacturers of

cigarettes and other consumer tobacco products in over 90 countries.


Alliance

One’s revenues are primarily comprised of sales of processed tobacco and fees

charged for related services to manufacturers of consumer tobacco products

around the world. They do not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer tobacco

products.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The incumbent will collect data from Leaf Technicians

    and Area Managers for the trial plots in Alliance One Uganda Operational

    Areas.

  • Responsible for gathering data from individual Leaf

    Technicians and Area Managers, record the information, then key in the

    data into spreadsheets;

  • Personally gather information from the trial plots on

    the data collection sheets provided by the Agronomy Manager.

  • Clean the collected data to remove any wrong

    information or miss-spellings;

  • Under the guidance of the Leaf Area Manager, perform

    basic statistical work i.e. filtering and sorting the data in the way

    required by your Supervisor;

  • Regularly analyze the data gathered; compile summarized

    reports, graphs and tables.

  • Perform supporting activities in the data gathering

    process, such as preparing questionnaires or locating and screening

    suitable interview subjects etc.

  • Maintain confidentiality and be able to work with all

    people of various status to enable proper work relations.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The ideal candidates for the Data Collection Officer

    vacancy should hold a Diploma in Agriculture. Possession of a Degree in

    Agriculture is an added advantage

  • Possess excellent computer skills, as data analysis and

    other daily jobs will have to be done using computers, especially with

    Spreadsheets and work programs;

  • Good typing and data entry skills;

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and above all

    a team player and result oriented.

  • Demonstrated integrity through actions and behavior;

  • Excellent oral communication skills;

  • Excellent typing skills;

  • Excellent analytical skills and highly results driven

  • Team player
