Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a national Ugandan organization that was established in 1991 as a medical institution and HIV AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing in medical research, health care and training. Vacancies exist for well qualified and experienced persons to be filled as indicated below.Job Title : Head of Data, Department : Data, Supervises : Departmental Staff.Job Summary:
The Head of Data oversees development of databases and provides guidance to data processing, validation
, storage and security, analysis, interpretation and presentation at JCRC. He/she is responsible for the integrity, timely input and completeness of JCRC research data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and oversee the impleMentation of appropriate standards, policies and procedures for data management to ensure validity and integrity at all levels
2. Participate in the development of appropriate data collection tools, data capture and validation templates, and databases in line with JCRC data and information needs.
3. Oversee the development and implementation of JCRC wide data warehouse in line with JCRC wide data and information needs
4. Oversees the development and implementation of JCRC virtual library and information systems
5. Participate in the development of research protocols.
6. Ensure that all data generated is accurate, timely, consistent and valid in line with all Research Protocols and in supporting JCRC management in decision making
7. Participate in the planning and filling of staffing needs and setting up of performance standards for all staff engaged in data processes in all JCRC
8. Guide the relevant staff of JCRC and collaborators in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of JCRC data / information in line with specific needs.
9. Contributes to the development of Data Management training curricula and participates in the conduct of any such training for both JCRC staff and outsiders.
10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor Qualifications:
1. An advanced degree in bio-statistics with additional training in computer science and database administration. A PhD would be an added advantage.
2. Bachelor’s degree in statistic, Business Administration, Information Technology, Economics or any Social Science discipline from a recognized institution of higher learning
3. At least 5 years experience in designing and managing databases in dinical research setting 3 of which heading the data department.
4. Ability to analyze and interpret complex bio-statistical data
5. Ability to plan for and implement data management systems
6. Ability to network with collaborators and partner organizations
Other Terms and conditions: The positions will be remunerated in line with the remuneration system at JCRC. The salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
