Job description


Whave was established in 2011 to take a new direction in aid assistance. To solve poverty and environment issues, we build on results rather than promises.


Our principal programme is Safe Water Security. Its aim is to eradicate water-borne disease as the main impediment to health, education and productivity in rural Africa; the programme builds a self-financing local public-private partnership to assure permanent eradication.

easure the daily operational reliability of clean water technologies and the degree to which clean water is handled hygienically. We use the measurement results to incentivise local actors to improve reliability and sanitation and hygiene. We partner closely with government officials and NGOs in Public-Private Partnerships, district by district.The successful candidate for the post of Operations Co-ordinator will have aptitude in at least some, if not all, the following areas. If you are not sure you have the right background but are enthusiastic and capable, and can learn new skills, we would be pleased to receive your application:Education to degree level or higher, practical experience in rural areas of developing countries.Management of finances and management of local contractors.Logistics, scheduling and communications, competence with advanced Word and publishing programs.Advanced excel skillsEngineering and techno-economic analysisInterest in behaviour change and community motivation and organisation.Managing and convening events, such as prize-giving ceremonies.Social and cultural sensitivity; people and team-working skills.Research and concise clear writing.Interest in economic and social development.Language capabilities, relevant to sub-Saharan Africa and other rural areas in developing countriesSpecialist knowledge of poverty-alleviating and environment conservation programmes in sanitation and hygiene, water technology maintenance, purification, off-grid lighting, efficient cooking and conservation agriculture.The post holder will be based in Kampala or Jinja in eastern Uganda, with possible extensions elsewhere. Remuneration will be at local level, with allowance for home visits (if expatriate) and health assurance.
