2 Computer Teacher Job Opportunities - St. Michael International School

The school strives to train young boys and girls into all round citizens who are competitive and always responsive to national and international development trends.Job Summary: The Computer Teachers will provide support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising pupils within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing schemes, lesson plans and delivering group an individual pupil instruction within the established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from pupils’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and pupil’s progress.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Ensure an admirable computer suite environment with clean and up to-date charts at all times.Adopt a positive approach to all pupils in the school in respect of capability, behaviour and social diversity.Setting and updating relevant schemes of work and other computer literacy materials according to the timelines set.Be responsible for the effective instruction, training and assessment of pupils in computer literacy.Prepare pupils thoroughly for good examination success liaising with colleagues on strategies, targets, revision programmes etc.Set, mark and moderate examinations (possibly including entrance tests) under the direction of the Headteacher. Prepare end-of-term reports within the deadlines set.Maintain a record of work for all children. Organize remedial sessions where necessary to meet targets.Accept invigilation, substitution, duty teacher, or other assignments as given by the DOS or Headteacher following the guidelines given.  Attend school/parent meetings punctually.Implement consistent guidance, counseling and disciplinary practices in accordance with policy, check pupils’ appearance and lesson attendance.  Set a good example by being well-dressed and always punctual to school duties.Adhere to the current timings of the school for lessons, activities and special events.  Be present in school at all times during school hours in the first and last week of term, in examination periods, and in duty weeks.Consult the Headteacher regarding permission to leave school during the day, and for other, special leaves. Absence from school for 1 day or longer requires the filing in and filing of a record chit.Ensure that the computer suite is clean and orderly, reporting any recent damage or misuse. Utilize suite equipment, charts etc. to the best teaching advantage.Be willingly involved in the wider cultural/sporting life of the school. Each teacher will help in Club and House activities. Promote student leadership and responsibility whenever possible.Participate in professional development programmes, computer courses, workshops, etc. Utilize reflective practice and occasional research. Implement recommended educational practices.Actively participate in staff appraisal and evaluation devices as requested by the Headteacher, and set annual professional objectives. Cooperate with colleagues over class visits.Ensure that all reasonable safety precautions are carried out pertaining to pupil /school activities.  Follow the Health and Safety guidelines.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicants should hold O level Certificates (UCE).Possession of a Diploma in Computer Education (DCE). At least three or more years working experience as a computer teacher.Working knowledge in computer networking, web design and maintenance etc. will be an added advantage. The school strives to train young boys and girls into all round citizens who are competitive and always responsive to national and international development trends.Job Summary: The Administrative Assistant/ Secretary will provide highly confidential secretarial and clerical responsibilities necessary for an efficient and effective school office that assists the Headteacher and school staff in the performance of responsibilities so that a safe learning environment and effective instruction are provided to ensure that all pupils meet and exceed the Core Curriculum Content Standards.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, staff, pupils, visitors and parents of the school.Conduct secretarial and clerical tasks of a varied nature.Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office, responding to routine requests for information, and transcribing, word processing, and proofing letters and responses.Type, reproduce and distribute notices to staff, pupils and parents.Type homework, tests and examinations and other evaluation exercises as directed by the Headteacher.Ensure that all communications from the office meet proper written and oral English standards.Serve as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters.Register new pupils, secure appropriate pupils records, maintain confidential pupil records, and transfer records for pupils moving to other schools.Maintain attendance data for each staff member, recording attendance, absences, substitutes, and other required information.Maintain a current school calendar of events and use of facilities.Arrange appointments and maintain a schedule for the Headteacher or designee and assigned staff.Order and maintain office supplies.Maintain inventories of books, materials, and equipment of the school.Create and maintain a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment.Quickly recommend to the Headteacher improvements needed in office procedures or operations.Protect confidentiality of records and information about students and staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Headteacher and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicants should hold a senior four certificate. (O’ Level)Possession of a Certificate in secretarial studies, business studies, business computing, business administration from a recognized institute.Hold a diploma in secretarial studies, business studies, business computing, business administration from a recognized institute. At least two years of progressive experience in a related secretarial or office position.Past exposure and experience in working with a school environment is an added advantage.Excellent secretarial skills, including speed at  keyboard with a minimum of errors, general bookkeeping skills, organizational and filing skills, and the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications. Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office or an equivalent computer program. Proven ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette, with proper voice inflection.
