Acholi Linguist/Analyst (Accoli, Zande)
SOS International Ltd. (SOSi) is seeking multiple full-time Open Source Intelligence Analysts with translation and interpretation skills in Acholi (Accoli) and Zande languages. The Acholi Open Source Intelligence Analysts will serve as a civilian counterpart supporting US engagements and tactical units during military exercises and assistance in Uganda with possible travel to other locations such as DRC, CAR and South Sudan, Africa.
The successful candidate(s) will be part of a larger, integrated team of analysts, linguists, screeners, and other professional staff working directly alongside of our US military and African allies.
Essential Job Duties:
Acts as translator and interpreter during US engagements with Partner Nations Provides translation of local media including print, internet, radio, and television reports to answer requests for information and produce summarized reports Scans and processes a variety of materials in target languages and dialects of the region Produces written reports and answers collection requirements bases on various media reports including print, internet, radio, television, and local populace Briefs the team of potential force protection issues coupled with critical information essential to mission success Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorMinimum Requirements:
Candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet current eligibility requirements for access to Secret classified information, US citizenship required Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of specialized experience; OR eight years of specialized experience All candidates must have a minimum of two years operational experience supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) and/or OGA Counter Terrorism Operations Ability to read, write, translate, and speak with clear and concise grammar and pronunciation in English, Acholi, and/or Zande or French at 3 level as per Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Candidates with two years of experience working in Africa providing translation, interpretation, and cultural advice are highly desired Experience providing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation during meetings Prepares accurate written gists, translation, and transcription of target source material utilizing the correct syntax Experience providing support to Special Operations forcesWork Environment:
Personnel can expect to be deployed, live and work in harsh and austere locations in Northern Africa for periods of up to twelve months There will be periods during exercises and contingencies where support will be required in excess of a normal 40 hour work week Ability to lift and/or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs Work environment is often stressful and detail-orientedDesired:
