Background Information:
At Human Rights and Peace Centre (HURIPEC) the project of Religion Rights and Peace Fellowship’s goal is to support the emergence of citizen-led social movement for the promotion of Human Rights, Peace and Good govemance, taking advantage of Uganda’s strong religious heritage and encouraging all people to pro-actively work for the realization of their hopes for a peaceful and prosperous nation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·Research,lnnovation and Impact
·Pursue a programme of individual and collaborative research, resulting in high quality publications In the area of religion human rights, peace and governance;
·Promote the integration of the Fellowship with other research
·interests and themes Into the School of Law, partner Colleges and Departments;
·Develop a strategy to ensure that the Fellowship’s activities have the potential for Impact beyond academia.
Student Education
·Undertake knowledge dissemination through advanced seminars, public lectures, radio talk-shows and publication of monographs at Makerere University and other partner universities, with engagement In continual improvement in response to student and other feedback;
·Contribute to the development and planning of course contentwithin the subject area as required;
·Participate in the monitOring and evaluation process(es) of the Fellowship which includes quarterty reporting, steering committee meetings and reflection retreats.
Personal Qualifications
Essential
·A PhD (or equivalent qualification) In a relevant field;
·A clear and compelling academic plan that will deliver results that are consistent with the Fellowship’S foregoing objectives;
·Significant research experience within the academic discipline;
·Experience of presenting at conferences (national and international);
·Evidence of building strong working relationships within and, as appropriate, beyond your own discipline and to contribute to successful projects and collaborations;
·The potential and commitment to undertake high quality and innovative teaching and gain a higher education teaching qualification or award;
·A high level of Interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong ability to communicate effectively in writingand verbally with students, academic and external audiences;
·The ability to lead projects and organise, balance and prioriitise work commitments.
Desirable, not compulsory
·Success in gaining significant Independent research funding;
·Experience of leading on projects and initiatives, including managing resources;
·A growing track record of successful and innovative teaching at both undergraduate and/or postgraduate level;
·Experience of involvement in postgraduate research supervision;
·Experience of working collaboratively with external partner organisations.
