Health Rights Action Group

(HAG) is a civil society organization dedicated to promoting the Health and

Human Rights of people living with or affected by diseases, in particular HIV/

AIDS. HAG works with PLHIV, young people both in school and out of school to

promote sexual, reproductive health rights and responsibilities with the aim of

bringing about improved and better lives and reducing HIV/AIDS infection.


Job Summary:  The HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming Officer will build

capacity of HAG and its partners to mainstream HIV/AIDS and SRH& R with the

aim of effectively managing HIV/AIDS and its impact on communities.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The

    Officer will be responsible for overall coordination of HIV/AIDS

    mainstreaming component at HAG

  • Carry

    out baseline and needs assessment on HAG’s Key partners and communities

    focusing on the levels of knowledge, information, policies and practices

    on HIV/ AIDS mainstreaming.

  • Develop

    modules on HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming based on the baseline and needs

    assessment Conduct training of HAG’s partners, TOT’s in HIV/AIDS and SRH

    mainstreaming

  • Prepare

    policy briefs to engage with decision makers from local to national levels

    on service delivery for Health and HIV/AIDS services.

  • Build

    an strengthen HAG’s networks and alliances

  • Organize

    lobby meetings with key stakeholders e.g. MPs, local governments

  • Document

    and share key learning


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The

    ideal candidate for the HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming Officer should hold a

    bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or other Humanities. MPH/Gender is an

    added advantage.

  • A

    minimum of two or more years of progressive work experience in the area of

    HIV and AIDS programming.

  • The

    applicant must possess extensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS and SRH&R

    programming and policies in Uganda and at global level.

  • Possess

    sound knowledge of HIV and AIDS health interventions and best practices.

  • Past

    experience in SRH& R related programs will be an added advantage
