Duty Station: Kampala, Soroti Uganda


The Allied Health Professionals’ Council was established by an Act of

Parliament in 1996, cap 268. The Council has a mandate to regulate, supervise

and control the training, practice and for other connected matters of Allied

Health professional in Uganda.


Job Summary: The Regional Allied Health Supervisor

will primarily ensure and enforce compliance to rules, regulations, standards

and guidelines.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Exercise

general supervision over all the allied health professionals and health units

in the region including but not limited to processing applications for

registration and licensing.


·        
Investigate

charges of malpractice, negligence or misconduct against a professional and

make a full report to the disciplinary committee of the facts and circumstances

of the charge.


·        
Work

closely with police, courts of law and other law enforcement agencies in

prosecuting offenders under the Act


·        
Suspend

from practice any professional in accordance with the rules made under the Act

for a period not exceeding three (3) months if the suspension appears

necessary.


·        
Quickly

report the name of any allied health professional convicted of an offence and

the nature of offence committed as soon as the conviction comes to his/her

knowledge.


·        
Notify

his/her supervisor the death of any registered allied professional as soon as

information on death comes to his/her knowledge.


·        
Inspect

any health unit with enforcement officer if necessary to certify whether

provisions of the Act are complied with.


·        
Manage

and report on activities of district, referral hospital and other established

allied health supervisory authorities in the region.


·        
Make

sure that all persons licensed to operate private allied health units make and

submit reports to the District Health Officer (DHO) by 31st January every year.


·        
Offer

technical support and evidence to the disciplinary committee at the time of an

inquiry into the conduct of an allied health professional from the respective

region,


·        
Regularly

inspect and recommend suitable allied health units applying for registration

and renewal of practicing licenses.


·        
Regularly

prepare and disseminate licensed allied health units in the region to relevant

authorities.


·        
Build

and create awareness among allied health professionals, employers and the

general public in the region on the Council statutory mandate


·        
Prepare

and submit periodic reports to the supervisor(s)


·        
Take

care of Council assets and resources within the region.


·        
Perform

any other duties incidental to the above assigned to him/her from time to time

by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The

applicant should hold an Allied Health Professionals’ Diploma plus a Bachelor’s

degree in Health Services Management, Public Health, Social Sciences, SWASA,

Business Administration or a Bachelor’s degree in any Allied Health Professional

discipline plus a Diploma in Management


·        
A

minimum of three or more years’ experience as an Allied Health Professional


·        
The

incumbent must be registered and licensed by Allied Health Professionals

Council,


·        
Possess

qualifications or knowledge in relevant computer applications
