Report to: Senior Manager Operations

Umeme is a public company cross listed on

both the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Nairobi Securities Exchange with

over 6,483 shareholders, including high value international institutional

investors. Umeme operates under a concession with a structural monopoly in the

distribution of electricity across Uganda, distributing 99% of electricity in

Uganda through a single buyer model.

Job Summary:  The Control Centre Operations Manager will ensure

Control Operations are professional, efficient, System Based and in line with

ORHVS and develop a culture based on the new-way-of-work in Umeme and the SCADA

system availability for operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·        
Drive

transition from the current skills resource set to a new skills set of people

in a non-disruptive manner.

·        
Develop

appropriate KPI’s for System Operations.

·        
Develop

professional Control and SCADA teams.

·        
Articulate

the new network operating practice to all Umeme staff and instilling a new

culture,

·        
Make

sure that all personnel involved in operations AND System Operations activities

comply with ORHVS and legal and regulatory Safety Standards and practices.

·        
Actively

participate in the development of a well thought load management strategy and

the communication strategy.

·        
Develop

a dashboard reporting system that ensures network performance information is

available online to key management and staff.

·        
Actively

participate in the development of an effective Stakeholder management plan.

·        
Compile

and submit Key Management reports for the organization fit-for-purpose and in a

timely manner

·        
Ensure

100% availability for the entire spectrum of SCADA System

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

·        
The ideal

candidate for the Control Centre Operations Manager should hold a B.Sc.

Electrical Engineering, a Post Graduate Qualification in System Operations

·        
A minimum

of five (5) years’ experience in a Control Centre Environment in an Electricity

Distribution Environment. Passion for safety and personal attributes such as

Achievement Orientation are key competencies for this role.
