Land Acquisition
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was
established by an Act of Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No.
15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and
maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads
policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The
Cadastral Surveyor will be responsible for accurately defining property
boundaries and this will include
re-establishing boundaries or creating new boundaries as part of the Land
acquisition and subdivision process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct cadastral /boundary
surveys and prepare strip map/cadastral layout based on the final
approved engineering design; - Render support in the resettlement
action plan verification team to ascertain correct routes before
compensation can be effected; - Actively participate in the
establishment and update of a Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
database on Project affected persons along all national road corridors; - Take part in the payment process
for compensation and expropriation of land in line with land
compensation policy and procedures; - Participate in UNRA process of
clearing the right of way which involves vacation, demolition and
takeover of compensated properties in line with policy, procedures and
the law; - Assess and value injurious
effects during or after construction; - Investigate and report
encroachment on land boundaries. - Perform any other duties as
assigned by the Head Land Acquisition
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The applicant for the UNRA
Cadastral Surveyor job vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Land
Surveying or related field; - Possession of a Master’s Degree
in related field is an added advantage; - Membership to a professional body
is an added advantage; - At least three years’ experience
in Land Surveying/Cadastral Surveying - and resettlement;
- Demonstrated working experience
in managing an organization/business unit with diverse professions. - High degree of integrity;
- Excellent track record of
outstanding performance; - Ability to work as part of a
team; - Excellent oral and written
communication skills; - Excellent interpersonal,
particularly staff/management relation skills - Ability to deliver accurate
results in a timely manner and in an environment with multiple and
challenging tasks.
