PW creates partnerships between community institutions and established business people to provide mentoring, training, access to capital and advocacy. In Uganda, PW supports over 5,000 small and medium enterprises through partnerships with local institutions. These institutions offer training, access to affordable capital, networking, and linkage opportunities through local and international forums.Job Summary: The Partnership Manager will mainly support and coordinate existing partnerships and grow new, strategic partnerships.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Work closely with the PW Uganda board in identifying key country focus areas and formulating those in a country strategy. The PM will also be the key driver in implementing the said strategy by providing regular reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the plans to the board and his/her supervisorSupport the Regional Facilitator in developing overarching strategies for Uganda partnerships and provide administrative and project support for these strategies. Support grant research and reporting, as appropriate.Develop a pipeline of new Local Community Institutions that would appropriate for the needs of the PW Uganda network; on-board as appropriate.Actively facilitate the creation and manage the implementation of Annual Partnership Agreements between Local Community Institutions and their Business AffiliatesIntuitively review and submit monthly financial reports to East/West Africa Regional office, program narratives, and Quarterly metrics reportsFacilitate the implementation of the PW Business curriculum among the Local Community InstitutionsMaintain regular communication with partnership stakeholders and PW head office to share updates, case studies, and stories for fundraising, marketing and global cross-learning purposesCoordinate and host mentoring visits from global Business Affiliate (BA) members; evaluate and strengthen current mentoring activities between high growth potential Uganda businesses and global Business AffiliatesCoordinate and plan national and regional networking forumsProvide training, oversight and evaluation of international and national interns, as neededQualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in business from a reputable university, an MBA would be an added advantageAt least three years’ experience in a managerial position. PPD's key strategies include senior level advocacy and policy dialogue, capacity building, sharing experiences and good practices and building strategic partnerships.

POSITION: Programme Officer, PPD Africa Regional Office
GRADE: National Professional
DUTY STATION: Kampala, Uganda
ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: Two year contract initially, renewable depending on funding availability

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director, Africa Regional Office, the Programme Officer will:

Manage the formulation of project proposals for collaborative inter-country exchange in the areas of reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, population and development, including completing substantive components and budget estimates, and processing of proposals for donor funding;
Manage designated projects using result-based management and prepare reports for donors and other external agencies, in conjunction with the Regional Director and other team members;
Work with other staff to develop communications materials, both printed and in electronic forms including programme overviews, newsletters, the PPD ARO website, brochures, annual reports, articles, press releases, meeting reports, etc. used to promote the PPD ARO's programmes for audiences including networks and external donors;
Assist in networking with other organizations and individuals, including the promotion of electronic bulletin boards, electronic mailing lists, blogs, etc.;
Perform related duties assigned by the Regional Director, PPD Africa Office.

Minimum Requirements:

Masters degree in Population, Global Public Health, International Development, Communications, or related discipline;
At least 5 years of experience in the area of communications and fundraising, including some experience with international organization;
Demonstrated ability in managing grants and programs for government, CSOs and private donors;
Computer expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Expertise with the internet, particularly with accessing information and electronic forms of networking;
An ability to multi-task and coordinate work and communications at a distance and asynchronously.

Additional Qualifications Desired:
Bilingual in French and English (both oral and written);
International work experience
