Maintenance Supervisor

Our client, a well renowned international Drilling Contractor, requires a Technical Co-ordinator to oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance of all rig systems and to ensure the vessel is in compliance with regulatory body requirements, plans for Classification Society surveys as well as manage the preparation of shipyard surveys and upgrades. Also to ensure assets are maintained to a high operational standard and that inventory levels are adequate.

The Role

Safety

Required to be fully familiar with the vessel’s S.O.P.E.P, Waste Management Plan and PEI plan Ensure that non-conformities, accidents, incidents, and near misses within his department are documented and reported to the Master Ensure that all Maintenance personnel are issued personal protective equipment and ensure that the crew is trained in the maintenance and use of all necessary PPE. Hold daily departmental meetings to discuss and inform personnel of safety and general issues concerning the maintenance department. Ensure orientation and familiarization of all new and transferred personnel reporting to the vessel. Responsible for ensuring that his/her Certificate/s of Competency (MODU or STCW 95 as appropriate) and Medical are current. Ensure that adequate resources, tools, and equipment are available as required by the vessel’s Safety Management System. Ensure that Lifeboats, FRCs and Workboats are maintained and serviced according to recommended procedures. Will Liaise with the Chief Engineer.


Maintenance

Responsible for the maintenance, of all equipment (including drilling and subsea), machinery, main propulsion plant and all other vessel control systems

Ensure that all critical mechanical & electrical safety systems are maintained and tested to company standards and flag state regulations

Coordinate with the Site Manager and Captain (on DP vessels) to plan and schedule maintenance needs

Support the Rig Asset Manager in developing and executing all equipment requirements

Operate, monitor, evaluate, and document machinery performance

Ensure fuel operations are handled in accordance with procedures

Communicate with all department supervisors to organize; document, and implement planned preventative maintenance and repair procedures for all equipment on board.

Ensure personnel are aware, understand and follow written repair procedures. Document and communicate any discrepancies or problems to the Master, Site Manager and Rig Asset Manager

Maintain a record of the rigs engineering system activities

Administer Maximo program and coordinate all corrective PM between departments.

Sign off on all PM and CM work orders to guaranty proper execution of maintenance tasks

Periodically audit executed work to ensure consistent with work order report

Responsible for the MAF and EFR processes and coordinate follow up with Rig Asset Manager

Coordinate with the Rig Asset Manager for the preparation of the 5yr maintenance plan and any rig modifications or AFE’s

Facilitate audit execution from shore and / or corporate office

Responsible for controlling inventory levels

Responsible for the follow up on action items

Track and Monitor AME KPI’s

Review and update maintenance procedures, in conjunction with other department heads, to ensure that the vessel’s working operations are conducted in a way that prevents injury to personnel and/or damage to the vessel or equipment. Inform department personnel of any changes in these procedures.

Ensure that the drilling crew uses the Assets as they are designed to be used. Any abuse should be reported to his direct supervisors immediately

Generate Max and Mins levels for all expendable materials.

Review Maintenance Department requisitions and expenditures. Ensure that unnecessary items are not purchased, and that inventory levels are adequate.

Enlist department heads to carry out physical inspection of spares. Ensure good housekeeping of all maintenance work and storage areas

Ensure a smooth transition during Maintenance Department crew change. 

Ensure all load bearing equipment and pressure vessels under his/her control are maintained, inspected, tested, certified and recorded based on Statutory Regulations and Class requirements. Department supervisors will keep the systems current and communicate any deficiencies.

Applicants

Associate’s degree in mechanical technology or related educational equivalent from an accredited technical school, trade school, or institute is preferred.

Must have 10 or more years of experience in maintenance department, as well as offshore experience.

Strong expertise in preventive maintenance systems

Strong experience in hydraulic, electrical, mechanic systems is required.

Knowledge in reading and interpreting hydraulic, electrical and mechanical drawings is required.

Knowledge in Class certification is required.

Knowledge in Regulatory Compliance is required.

Knowledge in Rig Survey is required

English needed, Bi-lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese)

Verbal communication skills necessary
