International Clinical Evaluation Consultant

Location:Uganda; Washington, DCDays to expiry:32Posted date:Accordia Global Health Foundation is seeking an International Clinical Evaluation expert to serve as a short-term consultant for the CDC-funded MENTORS operational research project in Uganda. The MENTORS project is a 2-year randomized-cluster control trial to determine the effectiveness of using on-site clinical mentorship to improve the clinical knowledge and competence of mid-level practitioners in providing HIV and TB care. Improvements in MLP knowledge and skills will be assessed through using case scenarios, clinical observations and facility performance.

The International Clinical Evaluation Consultant will provide technical expertise in clinical evaluation to a team of Ugandan clinical and research personnel working on the MENTORS project. The Consultant will review and revise the case scenarios and clinical observation tools. The Consultant will also review and provide feedback on the facility performance surveillance system. The Consultant will then develop a plan for administering the evaluation tools and analyzing the data. After the data is collected the consultant will provide support to the data team to guide data analysis and report writing. It is expected that apart from training the clinical data collection team, all work will be done remotely, with frequent communication with the teams based in Uganda and Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

• Review and revise clinical case scenarios and clinical observations tools in collaboration with Ugandan team.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for the administration of clinical case scenarios and clinical observation tools
• Develop plan and process for piloting tools, including providing guidance on piloting of tools.
• Train local consultants in the administration of the clinical case scenarios and clinical observations tools to be administered at baseline, end line, 6 months post-, and 12 months post- intervention.
• Work with Ugandan team to develop entry screens for entry of data.
• Develop scoring system for tools in collaboration with Ugandan team.
• Develop detailed statistical analysis plans for the clinical case scenarios and clinical observations. Provide on-going support and guidance for data analysis and report writing with regard to the clinical assessment and case scenarios.

Qualifications:

• MD or Nursing degree with significant clinical education/clinical training evaluation and research experience highly preferred
• Expertise and experience in designing and implementing operations research studies
• Experience conducting statistical analysis for cluster randomized control trials
• Understanding of HIV/AIDS and TB clinical care
• Experience working in Africa or other developing countries
• Willingness to travel to Uganda for approximately 1 week.
