Job Summary:
 The Senior Officer, FACT and Responsible

Engaged and Loving Fathers (REAL) will be responsible for the implementation of

two projects namely (i). Fertility Awareness and Transformation (FACT) Project,

is a research project to explore whether increased use of family planning is

seen by improving fertility awareness and expanding access to fertility

awareness-based methods (FAM). In Karamoja, this is done through an

intervention designed to increase fertility awareness information and spread

through existing social networks. (ii). Responsible Engaged and Loving (REAL)

Fathers Project aims to reduce GBV, especially Intimate Partner Violence (IPV),

and support raising children in a non-violent manner. This is done through

mentorship interventions and men’s lifestyle campaigns that promote positive

masculinity and men’s empowerment as fathers and husbands. This project

challenges gender norms and sexual scripts that often underlie coercion and

violence in relationships and teaches effective parenting, communication, and

problem-solving skills. Both projects are research projects implemented by Save

the Children in conjunction with Georgetown University, Institute for

Reproductive Health (IRH). The job holder collaborates Save the Children US and

IRH staff on intervention design, implementation to facilities ongoing

activities. In Karamoja, both projects will work with the Centre Management

Committees of existing Early Childhood Care and Development Centres, supported

by Save the Children. The Senior Officer will provide day to day support to

both projects in the Region, in collaboration and support of the SRH and GBV

Project Manager. The job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to

support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
