Reports

The Government of The Republic of Uganda

has received funds from Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA),

Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), OPEC Fund for International Development

(OFID) and the Government of Uganda for rehabilitation and expansion of Kayunga

and Yumbe Hospitals. The project objective is to deliver the Uganda National

Minimum Health Care Package (UNMHCP), through improvement of Health

Infrastructure.

Job Summary: The Project

Drivers will transport staff, property, documents/parcels and authorized

passengers within the stipulated Government of Uganda transport and traffic

regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

• The
  
  Driver operates and maintains the vehicle in good mechanical condition


• Carries
  
  out minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle when necessary.


• Routinely
  
  reports all vehicle faults, and service in time to the Project
  
  Administrator and ensures that they are carried out.


• Observes
  
  the servicing schedule of the vehicle.


• Parks
  
  vehicles safely and timely in designated parking places.


• In
  
  charge of transporting staff, property, and all authorized passengers to
  
  various destinations.


• Responsible
  
  for the delivery and collection of goods and documents to and from various
  
  destinations.


• Records
  
  accurately daily vehicle movements, mileages and fuel in the vehicle log
  
  book.


• Keeps
  
  proper records of vehicle service, and repairs


• Reports
  
  to the designated representative before departure from the station.


• The
  
  Driver will report any accident involving organization vehicle to the
  
  nearest Police station, and to the Project Administrator. Ensures that a
  
  Police report is obtained in all such cases.


• Ensures
  
  that the allocated vehicle is washed regularly and kept clean always.


• Ensures
  
  confidentiality of any documents he may be assigned to handle as part of
  
  his duties


• Routinely
  
  checks engine oil and tyre pressure levels every morning


• Keep
  
  highest standard of integrity while executing his duties.


• Performs
  
  any other duties as assigned by the Project Administrator.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The
  
  ideal candidate for the Driver placement should hold a Uganda Certificate
  
  of Education (UCE).


• A
  
  minimum of five or more years of driving experience


• Possess
  
  a valid driving licence (with class B) on computerized permit


• Possess
  
  the ability to read, write and communicate in English


• Excellent
  
  interpersonal skills


• Simple
  
  mechanical knowledge


• Results
  
  of competence driving test from Chief Mechanical Engineer.


• Possession
  
  of defensive driving skills will be an added advantage
