Reports to: Head of

Secondary Department


National Curriculum Development

Centre is a corporate body under the Ministry of Education and Sports. It is

responsible for inter-alliance development of curricula and related materials

for various level of education (i.e. Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and

Tertiary), organising capacity building courses for stakeholders on curricula

and matters related to curriculum development.


Job Summary:   The

Curriculum Specialist will develop the Physics- Secondary curriculum and

curriculum related materials.    


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • The

    incumbent initiates and develops ideas on curricular reforms.

  • Responsible

    for developing and preparing subject syllabi, teachers’ manuals, texts and

    other related curriculum materials.

  • Organizes

    and conducts writing workshops.

  • Writes,

    coordinates and edits curriculum units developed by the panel and other

    teachers.

  • Organizes

    and conducts orientation courses for teachers.

  • In

    charge of popularizing education in the relevant subject.

  • Services

    the subject panel by planning and convening meetings, preparing working

    papers and furnishing the necessary data and relevant research reports.

  • Perform

    any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The

    Curriculum Specialist should preferably hold a Masters of Science in

    Physics.  The incumbent must also

    hold a Bachelor of  Education –

    Science (with Physics as a teaching subject) or Bachelor of Science with

    Education (with Physics as  a

    teaching subject) or Bachelor of Science with  Physics as one of the subjects and

    a  Diploma in Education

  • A

    minimum of five or more years of teaching experience in a recognized

    institution.

  • Computer

    literacy skills
