Salary: Monthly Stipend of 550 dollars per month


Global Health Corps pairs intelligent and

passionate fellows with organizations that require new thinking and innovative

solutions. We provide these young leaders with the tools to remain connected

after their fellowship year finishes, deepening their ability to enact change

through heightened skills and strong partnerships. We currently place fellows

in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.


Innovation Program for Community

Transformation (InPact) is a non-profit Ugandan organization established in

2010 that works to improve the health and wellbeing of young people aged 10-30

years in the Southwestern district of Kanungu. Our community transformation

programs are designed to mobilize and apply the energy, creativity, and

innovation of young people in the implementation of high-impact interventions

that provide solutions to challenges and needs of young people.  Our core intervention areas span through the

four major sectors of health, education, livelihoods, and the environment.

InPact empowers young people by equipping them with productive skills, creating

spaces for advocacy around issues that concern youth, increasing access to

youth-friendly services and youth-sensitive information, and supporting gender

equity in all we do. Our initiatives target youth within their communities, bringing

quality services closer to them to facilitate access and utilization. We also

provide tailored youth-friendly services, including running a youth-focused

medical health facility that provides a range of health care services,

including: maternal, newborn and child health care; adolescent reproductive

health care; and management of other illnesses, such as non-communicable

diseases that affect the communities in general, and specifically the youth.


Job Summary: The Community Health Manager will significantly

contribute y to the growth of our community outreach programs.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Plan,

coordinate, and monitor regular community health outreach meetings and

workshops, which are a core part of InPact’s community health education

programs


·        
Refer

and follow up on health cases to relevant health facilities and service

providers


·        
Identify

community health issues at the household level and provide appropriate support

to address/mitigate those issues


·        
Gather

and analyze community health-related opportunities and information within

communities that would strengthen project responses


·        
Organize

community health days to sensitize communities about common public health

issues


·        
Document

best practices, lessons learned, and challenges related to improving community

environmental health responses


·        
Build

and strengthen new and existing partnerships with community organizations and

actively manage relations with existing partners


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The

ideal candidate for the Global Health Corps Community Health Manager vacancy

should have prior experience implementing community-based health programs, such

as sanitation and hygiene, food security and nutrition, and reproductive health

programs


·        
Familiarity

with community health models


·        
The

ideal candidates will have experience with community outreach and a passion for

improving the lives of low-income women, families, and communities.


·        
Applicants

should be able to work in a collaborative team setting and expect to contribute

significantly to an innovative start-up organization with the potential for

rapid growth.


·        
Experience

implementing community-based programs in a resource-challenged setting


·        
Working

knowledge of and experience with monitoring and evaluation of community health

activities


·        
Demonstrated

flexibility and openness in responding to changing work priorities and

environment


·        
Excellent

interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural

environment


·        
Some

experience in communications and documentation to capture success stories, best

practices, and lessons from the community engagement


·        
Fluency

in local languages of Runyankole and Rukiga is mandatory


Job Terms and Conditions: Fellows will be provided with housing,

health insurance and a living stipend of $550/month. Additionally, fellows will

receive an award of $1500 upon successful completion of the fellowship year.

Flights to and from the placement site and all other costs associated with GHC

programming are included, including $600 in professional development funds. The

housing area provided by InPact is in a secure private premise within walking

distance (approximately 500 meters) from the InPact Office and Health Facility

in Kanungu, a rural area in Uganda.


Note:

The living stipend and completion award may be paid out in USD or local

currency, as determined by the placement organization.
